Today our daughter is 1 week old. What a week it's been. It's been tough adjusting to this new life with a baby but it's also been amazing! My husband and I are just so happy to have this beautiful little girl in our lives.
When we went into the hospital last Thursday, our house was a MESS! Our kitchen was still torn apart and we had boxes everywhere in our living room. Bryan's brother and his wife were generous enough to come to our house and do some work for us. Thomas laid the kitchen floor while his wife put everything back into our kitchen cabinets. When we got home on Sunday, we had a kitchen and a living room, both rooms we did not have when we went into the hospital on Thursday.
They also came down Sunday when we got home and made us dinner. My Mom and nephew also came over on Sunday to clean the nursery. All of the remodeling left the nursery in a layer of dust so they cleaned it up for us. I don't know what we would have done without these people! They saved us!
The dogs have been adjusting. Our female pug, Katie, has been like a little Mom to Ashlyn. The first night was pretty rough and Ashlyn didn't really want to sleep. Of course I didn't care because that meant more time for me to spend with my baby. Katie was up with us all night. She was such a good little mommy. Utley is ok with Ashlyn but he keeps his distance. Camo is ok with her too but he is still so big and rammy so we just try to keep him away from her as much as possible.
It has been a major adjustment for all of us. She wakes up around 1 or 2am to eat and she wakes up around 5 or 6am to eat again. Then she usually sleeps until at least 9am. I can't wait until she is more awake and alert during the day. I love to hold her and watch her just look at everything. She is always content and hardly ever cries.
Here are some pictures of our first week...
You are 1 week old today. You make the cutest noises when you are sleeping and you melt our hearts with the little noise you make when you sneeze. You have the most beautiful blue eyes and you love to look around at everything!
Daddy loves to hold you. Every time he walks into the living room, he is rubbing his hands with sanitizer because he wants to hold you. Daddy does a great job feeding you and changing your diaper too!
Daddy still can't believe that you are here. We are both so happy to have you here with us. The holidays are coming so you will be meeting a lot of new people and we can't wait!
