Mother's Day was a little different for me this year. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel this year. While it was a good day, a fun day spent with my family, there was also that little nagging sadness for Colson. Not having him here with me for Mother's Day was hard. But we still had a good day.
We went to church first. We went to the earlier service because we knew we had a lot to do. Ashlyn loves going to church. She loves that she gets to play with the kids in her classroom. Bryan isn't usually as happy and he almost always cries when we drop him off. On Mother's Day, he did not cry.
After church, we visited the Lancaster outlets to get me a purse. My husband doesn't do gifts well. He's never been creative about them and he almost always asks me what I want instead of trying to do something on his own. It's not an easy thing for me to accept because I'm so creative when it comes to gifts but its ok. It wasn't about the gifts.
But he wanted me to have something. The only thing I really need is a purse. A nice summer purse. So that's what I got. I couldn't find a thing I liked at Coach. We visited a few other stores but nothing. I've never been to Kenneth Cole but that's where I found my purse. It's different. It's not like anything I have now and that's exactly what I wanted.
When we were done shopping, we went to visit my Mom. She and my Dad go camping every weekend so we went to visit them at their campground. My Grandmother came along as well. We took the kids for a walk, let them play at the playground and had some dinner with my family.
The cool thing about this campground is that it's the place my husband and I met some 20 years ago! It was so amazing to see our kids swinging on the exact same swings that we were swinging on when we had our first conversation.
Ashlyn painted votive holders for my Mom and Grandmother. She doesn't really paint anything with form yet so it's just a lot of swirls of colors but that's ok. I got them some candle holders from Yankee Candles and I got them each a necklace from the kids, which I forgot to take a picture of. It's the same as the picture below but it says Nana and Gran and has the birthstones of the kids, Colson included.
That's about all we did. It was nice to just be able to spend the day with my family. It's really been put into perspective for me how thankful I should be for this little family of mine.
I hope that all of you lovely ladies had an amazing Mother's Day.
