Nothing New

I haven't blogged in over a month!  Wow!  I miss blogging a lot.  I never have the time to sit down and write anymore.  The kids are happily playing and watching a movie right this second but I'm sure that will end any minute so let's see what I can get out here.

There's nothing new or exciting going on over here so I'll just post some random things that are going on in our lives right now.

Miss Ashlyn will be celebrating her 3rd birthday in a little over a month.  I can't believe this girl is going to be 3 already.  I am ridiculously amazed by this girl and how smart she is.  I love how sweet she is and how she talks to people wherever we go.  Even if she has just met you, you can bet she will give you a hug and a kiss when she's done talking to you.  It's just who she is.

While we love how social she is, we are also very scared about it.  She has no boundaries.  She isn't scared of anyone.  We think it's time to start teaching her when it is and isn't ok to be so cozy with strangers.

So other than the complete disregard for stranger danger and the fact that she still comes into our bed in the middle of the night, she is awesome.  She's going through some typical toddler irritations lately like attitude issues and saying no to us but nothing crazy.

She's always been an awesome kid but she just keeps getting better and better.  She loves to cuddle and give hugs and kisses.  She's only a slightly picky eater but we've been cracking down on that and she's been getting better.  She loves her brother and plays with him more than she fights with him.  She's a pretty easy kid.  Not to mention flippin adorable.

Bryan is now 14 months old and is a CRAZY little boy!  He is into EVERYTHING!  Half of it is the age and half of it is the fact that he is a boy.  Ashlyn wasn't nearly as curious as he is at this age.  He just wants to see what everything is.  He digs into everything he's not supposed to.  But I love his curiosity and I love how he is starting to get things.

He's walking now so he's all over the place.  He will literally walk around in circles in the kitchen just for something to do.  It's really funny to watch.  His little toddler waddle is adorable and he's already trying to run.

He is the least picky toddler I've ever seen.  He eats just about anything.  The only thing I know he really doesn't like so far is grapes.  For some reason he spits them out.  He seems to like more of the foods I like...meats and potatoes.  Some days he can eat all day long and other days he barely eats a thing.  He almost never eats a real lunch because that's around his nap time and just refuses to eat.  It's an odd eating schedule but I guess it works.

I think he's teething right now.  All of his teeth came early and it looks like his fangs are going to be no different.  He's got puffy top gum so I'm assuming they will be coming very soon.  Some days this makes him crazy clingy and some days it makes him cuddly clingy.  There's a huge difference and I prefer the cuddly.

Speaking of cuddling, this boy is the master.  I mean he really gives the best hugs.  They are always so random too, out of no where.  He is the sweetest little boy and he is always smiling!  But on the rare occasion that he is pissy, he has the best pouty face I've ever seen.  I can't believe how cute this kid is.

The weight loss journey continues.  I've been slacking a bit lately but feel like I'm getting back on track now.  I'm down about 25lbs since February and would like to lose at least 10 more.  I kind of went on a two week binge of just not eating well and not exercising.  Not only did I gain some weight back (about 5lbs) I also felt like crap!  I was tired and moody and just felt bad.

This week I've adjusted my eating back to the healthier style and I already feel a big difference.  I'm down 4lbs already and I just feel better overall.  I ordered a new Beachbody program and will be starting that next week so I'm excited.  Since 12 of the last lbs I lost were due to PiYo, I'm pretty excited to see how this program helps.

I posted this photo back in September to show just how far I've come.  I guess you don't realize how much you really have to lose until you see it in a picture.

So that's about it.  Not much going on here.  We are going away this weekend and I can't wait!  My husband is going to be hunting in Maryland on Saturday so the kids and I will just be relaxing for the day with my sister in law.  I'm looking forward to some time away.

I'm so proud of your weight loss journey! As far as I'm concerned, you're a success and you've accomplished what you wanted to in 2014! You inspire me gf, and that picture is insane! I cannot believe how thin your face looks side by side like that!

Cheerios Stands

So when I logged onto my computer this morning, the first article that caught my attention was this one ( Cheerios Stands ) about a new commercial Cheerios has out.  They are getting a ton of negative feedback for this commercial and I'm just not understanding why. So basically, people are upset because this is a white mother, a black father and a biracial child.  What's the big deal? I know that it isn't a common thing to see in a TV commercial but what's the big deal?  I really don't think that biracial couples are uncommone these days so I'm not really understanding why they are getting such negative feedback for this commercial.  I give a ton of props to Cheerios/General Mills for not pulling the ad.  They could do that and that would be easy and would end the negativity but they are not going to do that.  Good for you.  There is no reason why this ad should not be aired. By the way, I think the commercial is cute and funny and I proba...

29 Week Bumpdate

The heart rate today was 160 and all is well. Little Man is still kicking away all the time!  He sleeps until late morning and then he's all over the place for the rest of the day.  It's fun but it's also uncomfortable sometimes. When I weighed myself on Sunday, which is when I usually do it to update my pregnancy app, I was only up 15lbs.  As of today, though, I am up 17lbs.  I feel like I am growing at warp speed but the doctor assures me that I am measuring just fine.  I do feel like some of the shirts I wore two weeks ago shouldn't be worn anymore though!  The bump is growing! I have noticed that I have been waking up with swollen ankles every morning despite sleeping with them elevated.  I know this has a lot to do with the weight gain since I had such a problem with it last time.  Other than that, the normal heartburn and backaches come and go and I'm crazy tired but I don't really have any other issues.  I don't ever ...

HFMD

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a common viral illness that usually affects infants and children younger than 5 years old. However, it can sometimes occur in adults. Symptoms of hand, foot, and mouth disease include fever, blister-like sores in the mouth (herpangina), and a skin rash. ( http://www.cdc.gov/hand-foot-mouth/about/index.html) Are you kidding me? Blister-like sores in the mouth? Why do things like this even exist? What purpose does an illness like this that just torments little babies (and their parents) serve?  This stupid illness is currently 'running it's course' through my poor son. One week before his first birthday. Apparently it's 'going around' as the doctor so nicely explained.  Fortunately we only had one really bad day where he was not eating or drinking much and was just miserable. He was back to his usually happy self in no time even with blisters in his mouth. So this week, while my husband is away for work in Chicago and ...
