Mah Birfday

We celebrated my birthday Monday.

It was.....um....different then years past.

I was home with the kids all day.  I guess they didn't get the birthday memo because they were being less than adorable for me.

We went to dinner with my family where my Mom was over an hour late, my grandmother and nephew were fighting and the kids were throwing tantrums.

It was a bit of a disaster.

At least we got some cute pictures!

But we went back to my parents house and had some cake.  Ashlyn was so excited about it being my birthday but she swore it was her birthday too.  She sang to me but I think she was really singing to herself!  She blew out one of the candles too.

Then we watched the kids pretty much go crazy from all of the sugar.

Then we went home and got the kids to bed.  We sat on our front porch with a drink and that was that.

It certainly was not a perfect day.  But is any day really perfect?

We still had fun and got to spend time as a family and that's all I really wanted.

We will be having a small party on Saturday for myself and my person.  Our birthdays are so close together that we are just inviting some close friends and family to celebrate with us.

I'm looking forward it!

The best part of my birthday???
I got my Colson necklace.

I ordered this necklace weeks ago.  I must have emailed the woman from Etsy 3 or 4 times asking where it was and why it was taking so long.  In reality, it wasn't taking that long, I was just being impatient, as usual.

And when I opened up the mailbox, on my birthday, I knew what was in there.

My necklace for Colson.  I love it so much.  I don't even know how to describe how I felt when I opened that box.

Always in heart, sweet boy.

17 Tips - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin

17 Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin Even when you're still trying to conceive, it's smart to start taking prenatal vitamins. Your baby's neural cord, which becomes the brain and spinal cord, develops within the first month of pregnancy, so it's important you get essential nutrients, like folic acid, calcium, and iron, from the very start. Prenatal vitamins are available over the counter at most drug stores, or you can get them by prescription from your doctor. If taking them makes you feel queasy, try taking them at night or with a light snack. Chewing gum or sucking on hard candy afterward can help, too. It took me a little while to get into the habit of taking my prenatal vitamin. I wasn't used to taking anything daily since I had been off the pill for a few months. I finally got myself in the habit of taking it every morning. I just take an over the counter vitamin. It has the same nutrients as a doctor prescribed vitamin but is less hass...

HFMD

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a common viral illness that usually affects infants and children younger than 5 years old. However, it can sometimes occur in adults. Symptoms of hand, foot, and mouth disease include fever, blister-like sores in the mouth (herpangina), and a skin rash. ( http://www.cdc.gov/hand-foot-mouth/about/index.html) Are you kidding me? Blister-like sores in the mouth? Why do things like this even exist? What purpose does an illness like this that just torments little babies (and their parents) serve?  This stupid illness is currently 'running it's course' through my poor son. One week before his first birthday. Apparently it's 'going around' as the doctor so nicely explained.  Fortunately we only had one really bad day where he was not eating or drinking much and was just miserable. He was back to his usually happy self in no time even with blisters in his mouth. So this week, while my husband is away for work in Chicago and ...

29 Week Bumpdate

The heart rate today was 160 and all is well. Little Man is still kicking away all the time!  He sleeps until late morning and then he's all over the place for the rest of the day.  It's fun but it's also uncomfortable sometimes. When I weighed myself on Sunday, which is when I usually do it to update my pregnancy app, I was only up 15lbs.  As of today, though, I am up 17lbs.  I feel like I am growing at warp speed but the doctor assures me that I am measuring just fine.  I do feel like some of the shirts I wore two weeks ago shouldn't be worn anymore though!  The bump is growing! I have noticed that I have been waking up with swollen ankles every morning despite sleeping with them elevated.  I know this has a lot to do with the weight gain since I had such a problem with it last time.  Other than that, the normal heartburn and backaches come and go and I'm crazy tired but I don't really have any other issues.  I don't ever ...
