#15. Baby's First Wheels

"Taking walks with your new baby is one of the simple joys of motherhood. A stroller is a necessity for these ramblings around the neighborhood or, especially in cold weather, the mall. There are so many different styles available that it's worth shopping ahead of time and "test-driving" as many types as you can to see what fits your needs best. For example, if you live in a city apartment, an easy-to-fold style might be best for you to store or get on the bus. On the other hand, if long, suburban rambles are on your to-do list, a stroller with a sturdier frame and plenty of storage pockets might be just right."

Of course I already have the stroller picked out. As you saw in my last blog, I have a travel system picked out. It comes with the stroller and the car seat. Below are more details of the stroller, and more reasons why I want it!

Review: We LOVE this set up! 03/25/2011

This is the best car seat and stroller combination for the price. Not only is it very cute, but the car seat base makes taking baby in and out of the car a breeze. You simply pull the red handle in the back of the car seat to release. It also works the same in the stroller. You can connect the car seat to the stroller until baby is big enough to ride in the stroller without the seat. The car seat also holds on well to most* shopping carts. I love this! I highly recommend this set up. The stroller is great. It has 2 cup holders, a bottom for storage, and a plastic window so if baby is covered, you can see her.

The ONLY problem we've had with this is putting the stroller together. It takes patience and a little elbow grease. I recommend two people doing it together to get it done more efficiently. The hardest part of putting the stroller together is connecting the cup holders.

We've had this set since October 1st, 2010. We first put our daughter in it December 4th, 2010 and have used it almost everyday since.

The Spree Graco Travel System ($159) adds style and convenience to explorations with your baby. The complete travel system includes the Spree stroller and the top-rated Graco SnugRide infant car seat. The Graco Spree car seat has a convenient stay-in-car adjustable base.

Ashford Stroller Features:
•Holds child up to 50 lbs. for years of comfortable strolling
•Rear-facing for infants up to 22 lbs. and 29"
•Deluxe padded seat with multi-position recline keeps baby comfy
•Convertible 3 or 5-point harness grows with your child
•1 hand, self-standing fold closes easily, no bending necessary
•Lockable front swivel wheels with suspension for superior maneuverability
•Extra-large, drop-down storage basket
•Basket lets you reach in without disturbing your reclined child
•Spree Graco Travel System stroller features a parent's tray with storage and 2 deep cup holders for on-the-go convenience
•Child's tray with cup holder pivots for no-fuss stroller entry
•Use only household soap and warm water; never use bleach

Review: I Love it! Worth it! 09/03/2010

I love this travel system. It is way cute and looks just like the picture (which I am always worried about). We are having a girl, but I think it works for a boy as well. My husband had no problem putting it together. It only took like 10 minutes tops! We haven't used it yet but we have put it through a couple test by shaking and rocking it side to side, up and down and it's pretty sturdy! It's easy to open and close (one handed). It's not that heavy either. I was really shocked and pleased with this product AND price. I would totally recommend it to others!

So, these are basically the same exact systems in different colors so I don't know why there is a price difference. Obviously I chose one for a boy and one for a girl. I love that the car seat snaps into the stroller. The second review says this is done easily. It also seems to fold pretty easily.

I love how big the basket is and I love that there are cup holders on top for my husband and I. We always have a bottle of water or, in my husband's case, a cup of coffee so these cup holders will come in handy.

I'm looking forward to testing these strollers out at the store. I found them at Wal-Mart and they are surprisingly affordable. You can also get the high chair, playard and swing to match the pattern so that's what I'm going for. 20 more days until I can add one of these to my registry!

Cheerios Stands

So when I logged onto my computer this morning, the first article that caught my attention was this one ( Cheerios Stands ) about a new commercial Cheerios has out.  They are getting a ton of negative feedback for this commercial and I'm just not understanding why. So basically, people are upset because this is a white mother, a black father and a biracial child.  What's the big deal? I know that it isn't a common thing to see in a TV commercial but what's the big deal?  I really don't think that biracial couples are uncommone these days so I'm not really understanding why they are getting such negative feedback for this commercial.  I give a ton of props to Cheerios/General Mills for not pulling the ad.  They could do that and that would be easy and would end the negativity but they are not going to do that.  Good for you.  There is no reason why this ad should not be aired. By the way, I think the commercial is cute and funny and I proba...

29 Week Bumpdate

The heart rate today was 160 and all is well. Little Man is still kicking away all the time!  He sleeps until late morning and then he's all over the place for the rest of the day.  It's fun but it's also uncomfortable sometimes. When I weighed myself on Sunday, which is when I usually do it to update my pregnancy app, I was only up 15lbs.  As of today, though, I am up 17lbs.  I feel like I am growing at warp speed but the doctor assures me that I am measuring just fine.  I do feel like some of the shirts I wore two weeks ago shouldn't be worn anymore though!  The bump is growing! I have noticed that I have been waking up with swollen ankles every morning despite sleeping with them elevated.  I know this has a lot to do with the weight gain since I had such a problem with it last time.  Other than that, the normal heartburn and backaches come and go and I'm crazy tired but I don't really have any other issues.  I don't ever ...

HFMD

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a common viral illness that usually affects infants and children younger than 5 years old. However, it can sometimes occur in adults. Symptoms of hand, foot, and mouth disease include fever, blister-like sores in the mouth (herpangina), and a skin rash. ( http://www.cdc.gov/hand-foot-mouth/about/index.html) Are you kidding me? Blister-like sores in the mouth? Why do things like this even exist? What purpose does an illness like this that just torments little babies (and their parents) serve?  This stupid illness is currently 'running it's course' through my poor son. One week before his first birthday. Apparently it's 'going around' as the doctor so nicely explained.  Fortunately we only had one really bad day where he was not eating or drinking much and was just miserable. He was back to his usually happy self in no time even with blisters in his mouth. So this week, while my husband is away for work in Chicago and ...
