Update 08/17/11

How far along: 23 weeks
Size of baby: Size of a papaya and weighs at least 1 pound by now!
Maternity Clothes: I bought a few things from JC Penny and I love them!
Gender: Baby Girl!
Movement: I'm still not able to definitely say that I'm feeling movement. I should be feeling her by now but I'm not and I'm getting antsy!
What I miss: My energy! I am still so very tired.
Cravings: Mostly carbs like potatoes, cheese fries, pasta, cheddar gold fish and still sweets!
Symptoms: I'm still very tired all of the time, no headaches, ankles swell all of the time, heartburn and backaches are the worst!

So my husband liked the idea of the baby picture with the name. I would really like to have it done and reveal it at the baby shower but we will see about that. We went and got wooden letters for the name and my husband spray painted them brown. Then I painted pink polka dots on them. My husband wants to wait until I get a little bit bigger to take the picture but at least he liked the idea!

As a reminder, it's something like this except we didn't use block letters.

My husband is going to drill holes in the letters and string them together and then we will hang the letters on the wall as well as the photo. I can't wait until it's all finished! I really hope that our next ultrasound doesn't show that it's a boy because we are really preparing for Little Miss! (that's her name until she is born)

As far as symptoms go, I'm still pretty tired all the time, my ankles swell like crazy and my back is killing me! The aching pain in my lower abdomen/pelvic area has pretty much gone away. The heartburn is still pretty bad as well. Still can't eat meat. Still just ham and hamburger for the most part and I'm still trying to stay away from them.

I have been trying to eat more salads since Little Miss eats what I eat now. My husband is hounding me about eating healthier so I am trying to cut back on the sweets and eat more salads.

An update on the house hunt: We are still waiting to find out if we got the house we put the offer in on. It has been well over two weeks now. We are getting very anxious! We were one of three bids and one dropped out so it's between two of us. I'm really hoping to get an answer soon because we are running out of time.

Plus the whole house issue is just one huge argument for my husband and I. I have really grown to dislike the home we are in. Even though the location is great and we have enough garage space for my husband's business, the house itself is just too small. We have 5 animals, 2 adults and a baby. We need more room!!

But if we don't get this other house that we bid on, I think we are stuck where we are at for now. I would love to turn the garage into living space to give us that much needed room but my husband wants nothing to do with it. It's just so depressing when you're not happy with something like that. I just want a nice home for our Little Miss to live in and this is just not the home.

If we are stuck in this house, I might be able to get a new car like I've been wanting. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with my car. I have owned it for about 8 years now and it's been paid off for almost a year. But I need something a bit bigger and something with four doors. You have no idea how hard it is to get a car seat in and out of a car with suicide doors!

I posted a blog with all of the cute things that my mom and grandmother brought back for Little Miss while they were on vacation. It's called "Cutest Little Things!" Check it out here.

I'm still trying to decide if I want to do the 3D ultrasound or not. I have another 3 weeks at minimum to wait so I have plenty of time to decide. I think I'll ask my doctor when I go for my next check-up on 08/29.

Next update will be on 08/29 after my doctor's appointment.

I also want to make a quick shout out to "An Ordinary Mom". Check out her blog here. She is going through a very difficult time right now with her oldest son who had a brain tumor removed recently. Please send your love to her and her family.

17 Tips - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin

17 Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin Even when you're still trying to conceive, it's smart to start taking prenatal vitamins. Your baby's neural cord, which becomes the brain and spinal cord, develops within the first month of pregnancy, so it's important you get essential nutrients, like folic acid, calcium, and iron, from the very start. Prenatal vitamins are available over the counter at most drug stores, or you can get them by prescription from your doctor. If taking them makes you feel queasy, try taking them at night or with a light snack. Chewing gum or sucking on hard candy afterward can help, too. It took me a little while to get into the habit of taking my prenatal vitamin. I wasn't used to taking anything daily since I had been off the pill for a few months. I finally got myself in the habit of taking it every morning. I just take an over the counter vitamin. It has the same nutrients as a doctor prescribed vitamin but is less hass...

HFMD

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a common viral illness that usually affects infants and children younger than 5 years old. However, it can sometimes occur in adults. Symptoms of hand, foot, and mouth disease include fever, blister-like sores in the mouth (herpangina), and a skin rash. ( http://www.cdc.gov/hand-foot-mouth/about/index.html) Are you kidding me? Blister-like sores in the mouth? Why do things like this even exist? What purpose does an illness like this that just torments little babies (and their parents) serve?  This stupid illness is currently 'running it's course' through my poor son. One week before his first birthday. Apparently it's 'going around' as the doctor so nicely explained.  Fortunately we only had one really bad day where he was not eating or drinking much and was just miserable. He was back to his usually happy self in no time even with blisters in his mouth. So this week, while my husband is away for work in Chicago and ...
