17 Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy - #2 Exercise
Staying active is a must for most moms to be. Regular exercise will help you control your weight, improve circulation, boost your mood, and help you sleep better. Plus, getting into an exercise habit now will help you set a good example for your child after she's born.
Pilates, yoga, swimming, and walking are all great activities for most pregnant women, but be sure to check with your doctor first before starting any exercise program. Aim for 30 minutes of exercise most days of the week. Listen to your body, though, and don't overdo it.
Ok I will admit, this is a tough one for me. I never followed a workout routine before I got pregnant so it's hard for me to follow one now. I don't really exercise on a regular basis. I work in an office where I basically have a desk job. The most exercise I get during the day is due to my frequent trips to the bathroom!
I will say that it's getting harder and harder just to walk long distances so every little bit counts. Just last night my husband and I were walking around our local mall and I was short of breath and just not feeling well. That's what I get for being out of shape!
But my belly is getting so big that everything I do feels like a workout! I guess I'm not doing that badly because according to my doctor, I only gained 2 pounds in the last month!
My husband and I are also always on the go so it's hard to work in time for exercise. We like to take our dogs for walks but they aren't the best on a leash so they drag me most of the way. Yes, they are little pugs but they like to move! I know that once Little Miss comes my husband is going to be on my butt about getting into a workout routine so I'm going to soak up this free time while I can!
