Linking up with Tiffany from The Austin Family Diary for
Five Activities in my hometown.
My hometown is pretty small so there isn't really much to do there. The nice part is that my hometown is really part of a metro area that includes about 12 zip codes so there is plenty to do!
One of the most popular things to do in around my hometown is to walk down Penn Avenue and shop! Penn Avenue is lined with stores, salons, cafes and restaurants. They hold wine festivals and art festivals. They have a farmer's market of sorts every Sunday. All of the stores are beautifully landscaped (mostly by my husband) and it really makes for a nice atmosphere!
More shopping can be done at our outlet. They have all kinds of stores in the outlet and they even have a designer outlet. I know the outlet is struggling but we still see many buses come to the outlet so people can shop for the day.
(if you want the real designer outlets, you have to go the Philadelphia Premium Outlets. This can be considered part of our metro area too but it's a little far so I'm not including it.)
One of the best things about our are is the Sovereign Center. Concerts, hockey games, Disney on Ice, the circuis. You name it, they host it. We go to the Sovereign Center to see the Reading Royals play hockey. We have also been there for a few concerts (Brad Paisly with Jewel being one of the best).
If you're into art, we have the GoggleWorks and the Reading Museum. The GoggleWorks is a center for the arts. They host art shows, provide art classes of all kinds, including kids classes, and they rent out their space for events like parties and weddings. The Reading Museum is a beautiful public museum with a planetarium and an amazing park. Many people walk there every day and I do when the weather is nice. They also rent out the museum for parties and weddings. It's such a great place.
If you're into movies, we have an Imax theatre in our area. Now we have quite a few movie theatres in our area but the Imax is supposed to be the best of the best.
