Traveling with Baby

So I have a co-worker/friend who is getting married in June.  I'm invited (Yay!), but she lives in Minnesota!  Bryan really wants to go and we could really use some time away.  Ashlyn will be 6 months old by then but I'm just not ok with taking her on a plane.  Cabin pressure sucks for an adult...I can only imagine what it must be like for a baby!  And when we went to Disney, there was a little boy on the plane and he cried the entire flight!  I don't want to be that parent!

So the other option is to drive. It's an 18 hour drive. We were thinking of splitting the drive into two days, 9 hours each day.  I'm not crazy about this either.  I mean we agree to take our time, make frequent stops and try to keep Baby Girl as comfortable as possible.

We both really want to go but we have to figure out these logistics.  I'm not ready to leave Baby Girl for the weekend.  That's just not going to happen.  So what do we do?  If we drive, how do we keep Baby Girl comfortable and happy for 18 hours?  Or do we skip it?

Cheerios Stands

So when I logged onto my computer this morning, the first article that caught my attention was this one ( Cheerios Stands ) about a new commercial Cheerios has out.  They are getting a ton of negative feedback for this commercial and I'm just not understanding why. So basically, people are upset because this is a white mother, a black father and a biracial child.  What's the big deal? I know that it isn't a common thing to see in a TV commercial but what's the big deal?  I really don't think that biracial couples are uncommone these days so I'm not really understanding why they are getting such negative feedback for this commercial.  I give a ton of props to Cheerios/General Mills for not pulling the ad.  They could do that and that would be easy and would end the negativity but they are not going to do that.  Good for you.  There is no reason why this ad should not be aired. By the way, I think the commercial is cute and funny and I proba...

29 Week Bumpdate

The heart rate today was 160 and all is well. Little Man is still kicking away all the time!  He sleeps until late morning and then he's all over the place for the rest of the day.  It's fun but it's also uncomfortable sometimes. When I weighed myself on Sunday, which is when I usually do it to update my pregnancy app, I was only up 15lbs.  As of today, though, I am up 17lbs.  I feel like I am growing at warp speed but the doctor assures me that I am measuring just fine.  I do feel like some of the shirts I wore two weeks ago shouldn't be worn anymore though!  The bump is growing! I have noticed that I have been waking up with swollen ankles every morning despite sleeping with them elevated.  I know this has a lot to do with the weight gain since I had such a problem with it last time.  Other than that, the normal heartburn and backaches come and go and I'm crazy tired but I don't really have any other issues.  I don't ever ...

Blog Commenting Challenge!

Linking up with Jenna's Journey  for the 3rd Annual Blog Commenting Challenge! Hi! I'm Vanessa! I live with my husband Bryan and my amazing 6 month old Ashlyn in Pennsylvania. I was born and raised here and love it very much! We have 2 pugs, Katie and Utley, one black lab, Camo and one cat, Joey. Our second cat, Kitty, is sadly recently deceased (on Father's Day). I work full time as a Marketing Analyst for a supply chain consulting firm. I don't even know what that means really! I have been here for 3 years and am thinking about a career change. SAHM is looking better and better. My husband owns his own landscaping business which has been both wonderful and horrible at the same time! My husband and I know each other for about 17 years now and we have been together for 12. We got married in September of 2010, just 2 weeks shy of our 10th anniversary! We got pregnant after only 2 months of trying and last December we were greeted by Ashlyn Marie Miller,...
