Ashlyn's being Dedicated!
According to Christianity.com,
"A Baby Dedication is a ceremony in which believing parents, and sometimes entire families, make a commitment before the Lord to submit a child to God's will and to raise that child according to God's Word and God's ways.
Christian parents who dedicate a child are making a promise to the Lord to do everything within their power to raise the child in a godly way, prayerfully until he or she can make a decision on his or her own to follow God. Parents who make this vow of commitment are instructed to raise the child in the ways of God, and not according to their own ways. Some of the responsibilities include teaching and training the child in God's Word, demonstrating an example of godliness, disciplining according to God's ways, and praying earnestly for the child."
I was not raised religiously so this isn't something I completely understand but apparently it's a pretty big deal. My husband was raised religiously so he knows the importance of it. He believes that a child or adult should be baptised when they see fit and that it's not our decision to make for her. So, we are holding a Dedication. I know it sounds really selfish, but any event that I can throw a party for and share with our friends and family is a good event for me!
I already have the food list for the after lunch and supply list ready so I'm prepared! The formal invitations were sent out last week and the RSVPs are just pouring in. It's nice to know how much this little girl is loved and to see how many people want to share in these special times with us!
Theme? Pink and gray to match the invitations. These are the same invitations that were used for my baby shower. I will also be creating thank you cards using the same template!
Menu? Easy peasy foods like meatballs and sloppy joes. Cold cuts and snacks like chips and pretzels. Classics like macaroni and potato salad. Pink and gray frosted cupcakes because they are just easier than a cake.
Favors? Probably something easy like mints in a box or bag.
Now I know it's not about the food or the decorating but why not make the moment even more special?! My Mom is helping me with the food but I know we have our work cut out for us, especially since we are estimating anywhere between 75 and 100 people coming! Yea, I know. That's what happens when you have the most adorable, happy, playful baby in the world.
And if you're reading this and you haven't RSVPd already, do it now!
