Friday's Letters

Dear Baby Girl, we are pretty impressed by your lack of enthusiasm for your Christmas gifts.  You opened our gifts at home but wanted nothing to do with gifts the rest of the day.  That's pretty impressive for a two year old.  Shows us that we are really teaching you what is valuable in life.  Let's see how you do next year.

Dear Little Man, you ripped off more wrapping paper than your big sister!  You also seemed quite happy with your gifts.  Lots of things that jingle and that you can grab onto.

Dear 2013, you were pretty great (minus a few sad endings).  Let's see what 2014 has to bring!

Dear Beamer, I'm glad we got you fixed but it's time for you to go.  I love you but I'm sorry.  I can't be crossing my fingers in hopes that you will start.  I need something more reliable.  We will be parting ways very soon my friend.

Dear Christmas, you were hectic but you rocked.

Dear SWW, I can't believe I missed you this week but it was Christmas and I was a bit busy so...sorry.  It won't happen again!

Dear New Year's, we are going to be able to enjoy you this year thanks to my grandmother who is going to watch our kids for us.  My top resolution will be weight related and I will kick that resolution's ass all over the place.  No more holidays to hinder me.  It's time.

Dear Laney, I so hoped for a miracle for you this Christmas but it just wasn't meant to be.  I do hope you know how many hearts you touched.  I hope you are resting peacefully sweet girl.

Dear readers, Have a good weekend!

17 Tips - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin

17 Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin Even when you're still trying to conceive, it's smart to start taking prenatal vitamins. Your baby's neural cord, which becomes the brain and spinal cord, develops within the first month of pregnancy, so it's important you get essential nutrients, like folic acid, calcium, and iron, from the very start. Prenatal vitamins are available over the counter at most drug stores, or you can get them by prescription from your doctor. If taking them makes you feel queasy, try taking them at night or with a light snack. Chewing gum or sucking on hard candy afterward can help, too. It took me a little while to get into the habit of taking my prenatal vitamin. I wasn't used to taking anything daily since I had been off the pill for a few months. I finally got myself in the habit of taking it every morning. I just take an over the counter vitamin. It has the same nutrients as a doctor prescribed vitamin but is less hass...

HFMD

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a common viral illness that usually affects infants and children younger than 5 years old. However, it can sometimes occur in adults. Symptoms of hand, foot, and mouth disease include fever, blister-like sores in the mouth (herpangina), and a skin rash. ( http://www.cdc.gov/hand-foot-mouth/about/index.html) Are you kidding me? Blister-like sores in the mouth? Why do things like this even exist? What purpose does an illness like this that just torments little babies (and their parents) serve?  This stupid illness is currently 'running it's course' through my poor son. One week before his first birthday. Apparently it's 'going around' as the doctor so nicely explained.  Fortunately we only had one really bad day where he was not eating or drinking much and was just miserable. He was back to his usually happy self in no time even with blisters in his mouth. So this week, while my husband is away for work in Chicago and ...

29 Week Bumpdate

The heart rate today was 160 and all is well. Little Man is still kicking away all the time!  He sleeps until late morning and then he's all over the place for the rest of the day.  It's fun but it's also uncomfortable sometimes. When I weighed myself on Sunday, which is when I usually do it to update my pregnancy app, I was only up 15lbs.  As of today, though, I am up 17lbs.  I feel like I am growing at warp speed but the doctor assures me that I am measuring just fine.  I do feel like some of the shirts I wore two weeks ago shouldn't be worn anymore though!  The bump is growing! I have noticed that I have been waking up with swollen ankles every morning despite sleeping with them elevated.  I know this has a lot to do with the weight gain since I had such a problem with it last time.  Other than that, the normal heartburn and backaches come and go and I'm crazy tired but I don't really have any other issues.  I don't ever ...
