So what if my little Chunk is six months old and he hardly eats any solids.
With Ashlyn, I was strict on the solids: start cereal at 4 months and then follow with solid baby foods. By six months, she was eating a lot of solid baby foods and we were even moving onto the second stage baby foods. We didn't have a solid schedule yet but we were close.
This time? Not even close! He was so early to open his mouth for a spoon but then we moved and I just got lazy and stopped feeding him the solids. I just didn't push it nearly as much as I did with Ashlyn.
I do notice that I give him more adult solids than I did Ashlyn at this point. He has had mashed potatoes, ice cream, yogurt, bread, cake. Don't worry, I'm not giving him a lot at once but I am giving these things to him from time to time. I think I need to do some research on what foods he can and can't have. I don't give him any eggs, peanut butter, honey, etc. But I have been giving him foods with dairy and I'm not sure if that's ok or not.
I'm know a lot of it has to do with the move and I just didn't have the time to sit and feed him. It was just easier and more convenient to give him a bottle. But he's also not that impressed with baby food and prefers the adult foods.
I guess it's not that big of a deal that he isn't into solids yet. I mean he is only six months old and some Moms don't even introduce solids until at least six months. It's also given me more time to research making my own food and get a start on that. I love that by the way! Making my own baby food really makes me feel like I'm doing something good and healthy for my little guy.
When did you introduce solids into your baby's diet?

Even though both my kids started eating purees at 4 months, it is now recommended to wait until closer to 6 months so you're not behind at all!! And if he prefers adult food to purees, you should consider baby led weaning. I bet that is right up his alley! :)
ReplyDeleteLOL okay you're making me look terrible. It took me 1 year to get Dylan on solids because I was certain he would choke. Aw man...I feel like such a chump.
