Update 08/29/11

How far along: 24 weeks 5 days
Size of baby: Almost the size of an eggplant.
Maternity Clothes: I haven't bought anything new in a while.
Gender: Baby Girl!
Movement: I'm still not able to definitely say that I'm feeling movement. I should be feeling her by now but I'm not and I'm getting antsy!
What I miss: My energy! I am still so very tired.
Cravings: Mostly carbs like potatoes, cheese fries, pasta, cheddar gold fish and still sweets!
Symptoms: I'm still very tired all of the time, no headaches, ankles swell all of the time, heartburn and backaches are the worst!

I'm very grouchy today so this will probably be short.

Today's appointment was just a regular check up. Heart rate was 142. On paper, the doctor is still measuring me at 23 weeks 5 days, even though my last ultrasound put me a week ahead. So I'm sticking with the week ahead!

As far as symptoms go, still tired all of the time. The backaches are probably the worst symptom and I'm trying to use a heating pad for that. Heartburn is killer! I'm still trying meats all of the time. Last week I was able to eat a small piece of chicken so hopefully she lets me eat more.

I'm also still trying to eat salads and more healthy snacks. Breakfast is my hardest meal because I have a bagel every morning. What else is the pickiest eater supposed to eat?! I have to start exercising more because I didn't like the number on the scale today.

I still haven't felt the baby move, at least not that I know of. It's very frustrating. The doctor suggested that after dinner, I lay on my left side for an hour and see if I can feel her moving at all. I hope I can because I really want to!

An update on the house hunt: We finally found out last week that we didn't get the house we bid on. My husband is pretty much stuck on staying where we are for now so that's what we are going to do. He had this whole big plan hashed out about how he was going to get everything done but of course that has been put on the back burner again. It's amazing how easily he loses motivation.

I did get a new car though. Well, not new, but new to me. I love it! We decided to go with the SUV instead of the smaller car that I wanted. We were looking for something with more space, not something just as small as my Saturn! So we got the BMW X3.
This is basically it except ours has tan interior. It's probably the most comfortable vehicle I have ever driven!

I think that I am going to go ahead and get a 3D/4D ultrasound done at some point. I found out today that my next ultrasound isn't until October! I thought it would be at my next appointment which is September 26 but no, not until October. So, I think I will get the 3D/4D done to verify the gender and get some pictures of the baby before October!

Next update will be next week, at 26 weeks (or 25 weeks if you ask the doc).

I also want to make a quick shout out to "An Ordinary Mom". Check out her blog here. She is going through a very difficult time right now with her oldest son who had a brain tumor removed recently. Please send your love to her and her family.

My husband and I know each other for about 17 years now and we have been together for 12. We got married in September of 2010, just 2 weeks shy of our 10th anniversary! We got pregnant after only 2 months of trying and last December we were greeted by Ashlyn Marie Miller,...

17 Tips - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin

17 Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin Even when you're still trying to conceive, it's smart to start taking prenatal vitamins. Your baby's neural cord, which becomes the brain and spinal cord, develops within the first month of pregnancy, so it's important you get essential nutrients, like folic acid, calcium, and iron, from the very start. Prenatal vitamins are available over the counter at most drug stores, or you can get them by prescription from your doctor. If taking them makes you feel queasy, try taking them at night or with a light snack. Chewing gum or sucking on hard candy afterward can help, too. It took me a little while to get into the habit of taking my prenatal vitamin. I wasn't used to taking anything daily since I had been off the pill for a few months. I finally got myself in the habit of taking it every morning. I just take an over the counter vitamin. It has the same nutrients as a doctor prescribed vitamin but is less hass...

HFMD

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a common viral illness that usually affects infants and children younger than 5 years old. However, it can sometimes occur in adults. Symptoms of hand, foot, and mouth disease include fever, blister-like sores in the mouth (herpangina), and a skin rash. ( http://www.cdc.gov/hand-foot-mouth/about/index.html) Are you kidding me? Blister-like sores in the mouth? Why do things like this even exist? What purpose does an illness like this that just torments little babies (and their parents) serve?  This stupid illness is currently 'running it's course' through my poor son. One week before his first birthday. Apparently it's 'going around' as the doctor so nicely explained.  Fortunately we only had one really bad day where he was not eating or drinking much and was just miserable. He was back to his usually happy self in no time even with blisters in his mouth. So this week, while my husband is away for work in Chicago and ...
