3D Ultrasound!!!

Ok, so let me start by saying that it wasn't as creepy as I thought it was going to be. I mean, it's still creepy to see the face of my baby before she is born but it wasn't that bad. Now I'm anxious to see what similarities I will find between her and the pictures.

We went to Womb With a View on Saturday, September 24th to have the ultrasound done. My husband, mother and nephew went with. My nephew is 9 and he was very excited to see his 'alien cousin', as he kept calling her. It was a cute place and the two women who helped us were very nice and very easy going. It was very relaxing just like the website said it would be. They have lot of package options to choose from.

So once we filled out the paperwork and chose our package, we headed back to the ultrasound room. It was almost like a living room. It had a nice sized couch and some chairs that faced a big screen TV so that everyone could watch. There were a bunch of toys on the floor too so after my nephew got bored, he had something to do!

They started with the heartbeat, which was 150. I had been drinking orange juice to ensure that she would be moving for us so the heartbeat was a little higher than it has been. But the orange juice worked because she was moving a lot!

Here are some of the pictures:

The first thing she did was verify the gender. I'm not even going to try to explain it the way that she did but it's a girl!

She kept her hand in front of her face the whole time so we never got a clear shot but we did get some great profile shots and at least we know she has 5 fingers on her left hand!

She yawned a lot...

And of course she wouldn't be my little girl if she didn't flip us off!

I got a DVD with the package I chose but I was a little disappointed with that. It shows all of the movement, which is cool, but it also shows every time she took a picture or moved the mouse. It's still a neat thing to watch I just wish they could have taken out the mouse movement and picture taking.

They also gave a bunch of freebies for parenting classes and things like that. And we got a really cute knitted hat and blanket for free!

Overall, I'm glad I did it. I'm glad we got the gender verification because now I can finish my registry and plan the nursery. It was cool to see all of her features and now I can't wait to see how the pictures compare to her in real life!

  2. Awe, that little yawn is the best picture ever! These 3d ultrasound baby pictures gives you such a better view of your baby. I'm thinking about getting some of these for our baby. I just noticed the flipping off picture, and I couldn't stop laughing! Really awesome ultrasound pictures.

17 Tips - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin

17 Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin Even when you're still trying to conceive, it's smart to start taking prenatal vitamins. Your baby's neural cord, which becomes the brain and spinal cord, develops within the first month of pregnancy, so it's important you get essential nutrients, like folic acid, calcium, and iron, from the very start. Prenatal vitamins are available over the counter at most drug stores, or you can get them by prescription from your doctor. If taking them makes you feel queasy, try taking them at night or with a light snack. Chewing gum or sucking on hard candy afterward can help, too. It took me a little while to get into the habit of taking my prenatal vitamin. I wasn't used to taking anything daily since I had been off the pill for a few months. I finally got myself in the habit of taking it every morning. I just take an over the counter vitamin. It has the same nutrients as a doctor prescribed vitamin but is less hass...

HFMD

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a common viral illness that usually affects infants and children younger than 5 years old. However, it can sometimes occur in adults. Symptoms of hand, foot, and mouth disease include fever, blister-like sores in the mouth (herpangina), and a skin rash. ( http://www.cdc.gov/hand-foot-mouth/about/index.html) Are you kidding me? Blister-like sores in the mouth? Why do things like this even exist? What purpose does an illness like this that just torments little babies (and their parents) serve?  This stupid illness is currently 'running it's course' through my poor son. One week before his first birthday. Apparently it's 'going around' as the doctor so nicely explained.  Fortunately we only had one really bad day where he was not eating or drinking much and was just miserable. He was back to his usually happy self in no time even with blisters in his mouth. So this week, while my husband is away for work in Chicago and ...

29 Week Bumpdate

The heart rate today was 160 and all is well. Little Man is still kicking away all the time!  He sleeps until late morning and then he's all over the place for the rest of the day.  It's fun but it's also uncomfortable sometimes. When I weighed myself on Sunday, which is when I usually do it to update my pregnancy app, I was only up 15lbs.  As of today, though, I am up 17lbs.  I feel like I am growing at warp speed but the doctor assures me that I am measuring just fine.  I do feel like some of the shirts I wore two weeks ago shouldn't be worn anymore though!  The bump is growing! I have noticed that I have been waking up with swollen ankles every morning despite sleeping with them elevated.  I know this has a lot to do with the weight gain since I had such a problem with it last time.  Other than that, the normal heartburn and backaches come and go and I'm crazy tired but I don't really have any other issues.  I don't ever ...
