Mrs. Monologues

I'm Vanessa.  I'm a 29 year old Momma of one amazing (almost) nine month old girl.  I can't even describe how stinking awesome this kid is and how much I love her.  It's friggin ridiculous.

Speaking of my ridiculously adorable child, go to Facebook to

Vote for Ashlyn!!!!ļ»æ

She is entered to win a contest from Gerber but she needs votes!!!

Anyways, I am also a Mom to 4 fur babies:
2 Pugs
1 Black lab
1 Black cat

It's a mad house but it works!

My husband and I have been married for 2 years now but we have know each other for about 17 years now.  He owns his own landscaping business while I work full time as an Analyst for a supply chain consulting firm.  Don't even ask.  I can't even begin to explain it.

We live in PA and are currently looking to find a bigger home.  We have completely outgrown our little house and know that we need something much bigger, especially if we want to expand our family next year!

A few tidbits:  I love being a Mom, I am a big Twilight fan (yup, I admit it), I swear a lot, I hate mornings, my favorite candy is Twix, my favorite color is pink, I love pasta, my favorite holiday is Christmas, I love rainy days, as long as I can stay home, I hate that my daughter is in daycare, I can't wait to have more kids.

I started this blog as a way to document my pregnancy but it has turned into a support group for my life!  I love blogging about my baby, my life, my struggles, my happy endings.  I love getting blog comments and new followers.  I just love blogging and hope to do it even more as the 'dream' of becoming a stay at home Momma starts to become more of a reality in the next year!

You can read more about me on my About Me page.

17 Tips - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin

17 Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin Even when you're still trying to conceive, it's smart to start taking prenatal vitamins. Your baby's neural cord, which becomes the brain and spinal cord, develops within the first month of pregnancy, so it's important you get essential nutrients, like folic acid, calcium, and iron, from the very start. Prenatal vitamins are available over the counter at most drug stores, or you can get them by prescription from your doctor. If taking them makes you feel queasy, try taking them at night or with a light snack. Chewing gum or sucking on hard candy afterward can help, too. It took me a little while to get into the habit of taking my prenatal vitamin. I wasn't used to taking anything daily since I had been off the pill for a few months. I finally got myself in the habit of taking it every morning. I just take an over the counter vitamin. It has the same nutrients as a doctor prescribed vitamin but is less hass...

HFMD

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a common viral illness that usually affects infants and children younger than 5 years old. However, it can sometimes occur in adults. Symptoms of hand, foot, and mouth disease include fever, blister-like sores in the mouth (herpangina), and a skin rash. ( http://www.cdc.gov/hand-foot-mouth/about/index.html) Are you kidding me? Blister-like sores in the mouth? Why do things like this even exist? What purpose does an illness like this that just torments little babies (and their parents) serve?  This stupid illness is currently 'running it's course' through my poor son. One week before his first birthday. Apparently it's 'going around' as the doctor so nicely explained.  Fortunately we only had one really bad day where he was not eating or drinking much and was just miserable. He was back to his usually happy self in no time even with blisters in his mouth. So this week, while my husband is away for work in Chicago and ...

29 Week Bumpdate

The heart rate today was 160 and all is well. Little Man is still kicking away all the time!  He sleeps until late morning and then he's all over the place for the rest of the day.  It's fun but it's also uncomfortable sometimes. When I weighed myself on Sunday, which is when I usually do it to update my pregnancy app, I was only up 15lbs.  As of today, though, I am up 17lbs.  I feel like I am growing at warp speed but the doctor assures me that I am measuring just fine.  I do feel like some of the shirts I wore two weeks ago shouldn't be worn anymore though!  The bump is growing! I have noticed that I have been waking up with swollen ankles every morning despite sleeping with them elevated.  I know this has a lot to do with the weight gain since I had such a problem with it last time.  Other than that, the normal heartburn and backaches come and go and I'm crazy tired but I don't really have any other issues.  I don't ever ...
