39 Week Bumpdate

My computer is being difficult so I'm doing my Bumpdate a little differently this week.

How far along:  39 weeks
Size of baby:  size of a watermelon
Weight:  plus 27lbs
Gender:  boy!!
Movement:  less and less...no more room!
What I miss:  sleeping through the night, my energy
Cravings:  chocolate cupcakes
Symptoms:  majorly tired, headaches, nausea, heartburn, cramping, backaches, swelling

The heart rate was 159 and all is well.

I am so ready to be done with the pregnancy and to meet my little man.  I am feeling so big and I am so uncomfortable.  I think I have all of the normal symptoms that you are left with at the end of a pregnancy.  Swelling is a little worse, heartburn is still present but not quite as bad, headaches, backaches, trouble sleeping, light headed.  I really have been feeling awful!

No issues with my blood pressure or with protein in my urine so still no signs of Preeclampsia.  I'm thankful for this but still hoping this little guy comes soon.  I have been having so much cramping lately but nothing regular and nothing that really gets my hopes up.

I was 3 cm dilated this week, up from 1.5 last week so we are progressing!!  She tried to strip my membranes in hopes that it would help put me into labor but I'm not sure it did anything.  I'm still feeling pretty much the same.  The doctor said that she thinks I'm just in a long, slow labor process and that's why I feel so terrible.

If this little guy decides not to come on his own, my induction date is set for September 4th.  Let's hope that is not necessary because I really don't want to wait another two weeks!!

Since I forgot to post my update last week again, here is my 38 week photo and my 39 week photo.  I feel like my bump looks smaller but also a little higher.  You're going the wrong way Little Man!!

I also have this week's photo next to my bump photo from my first pregnancy.  You can see that I'm more of a basketball this time around rather than a watermelon.  I'm not nearly as swollen this time around so I'm glad for that!

Next appointment is next Wednesday if I make!

  1. Oh my gosh - it could be any day now! And woohoo to being 3cm dilated. That's definitely something. I'm still woefully at 1cm. Can't wait to "meet" him!

  2. Yay for no pre-E! I told my dr I just want to make it to 36 weeks....2 weeks longer than I was preg with Mackenzie. I figure it's a good goal since I already have bp issues, thankfully I've only had protein show up once and that was early on.
Hopefully you get to meet your baby boy before September 4th! At least you are progressing though...

17 Tips - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin

17 Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin Even when you're still trying to conceive, it's smart to start taking prenatal vitamins. Your baby's neural cord, which becomes the brain and spinal cord, develops within the first month of pregnancy, so it's important you get essential nutrients, like folic acid, calcium, and iron, from the very start. Prenatal vitamins are available over the counter at most drug stores, or you can get them by prescription from your doctor. If taking them makes you feel queasy, try taking them at night or with a light snack. Chewing gum or sucking on hard candy afterward can help, too. It took me a little while to get into the habit of taking my prenatal vitamin. I wasn't used to taking anything daily since I had been off the pill for a few months. I finally got myself in the habit of taking it every morning. I just take an over the counter vitamin. It has the same nutrients as a doctor prescribed vitamin but is less hass...

HFMD

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a common viral illness that usually affects infants and children younger than 5 years old. However, it can sometimes occur in adults. Symptoms of hand, foot, and mouth disease include fever, blister-like sores in the mouth (herpangina), and a skin rash. ( http://www.cdc.gov/hand-foot-mouth/about/index.html) Are you kidding me? Blister-like sores in the mouth? Why do things like this even exist? What purpose does an illness like this that just torments little babies (and their parents) serve?  This stupid illness is currently 'running it's course' through my poor son. One week before his first birthday. Apparently it's 'going around' as the doctor so nicely explained.  Fortunately we only had one really bad day where he was not eating or drinking much and was just miserable. He was back to his usually happy self in no time even with blisters in his mouth. So this week, while my husband is away for work in Chicago and ...

29 Week Bumpdate

The heart rate today was 160 and all is well. Little Man is still kicking away all the time!  He sleeps until late morning and then he's all over the place for the rest of the day.  It's fun but it's also uncomfortable sometimes. When I weighed myself on Sunday, which is when I usually do it to update my pregnancy app, I was only up 15lbs.  As of today, though, I am up 17lbs.  I feel like I am growing at warp speed but the doctor assures me that I am measuring just fine.  I do feel like some of the shirts I wore two weeks ago shouldn't be worn anymore though!  The bump is growing! I have noticed that I have been waking up with swollen ankles every morning despite sleeping with them elevated.  I know this has a lot to do with the weight gain since I had such a problem with it last time.  Other than that, the normal heartburn and backaches come and go and I'm crazy tired but I don't really have any other issues.  I don't ever ...
