So What Wednesday

Life After I Dew

So what if I'm already getting a bit discouraged by this diet/exercise thing I've got going on.

Let me start off by saying a I'm not a patient person.

I've been doing the 300/30 Day Ab Challenge for a week now.  I've been doing some kind of other cardio every day.  I'm still on the cleanse (today is the last day).  I'm watching my food and calorie intake like a hawk.

I should be down like 5 pounds already.  At least I think I should be.

But I'm not.

I know that I'm not being patient.  I know that it doesn't happen over night.  I know that the little bit of weight that I have lost so far is better than none.

I still wish it would happen faster.

On the up side, I have gotten my ass moving every day and that does feel good.  I like putting my exercise in my Lose It app.  I like to see how hard I'm working.  And that's about the only thing that's helping me to keep going.

I also know that I'll be able to take the kids out for walks soon.  The weather is starting to warm up here (and yet they are calling for snow/ice on Thursday) so I will be able to get everyone outside for walks soon!

So what if I'm also discouraged by potty training!

I started potty training with Ashlyn on Monday and it sucks some serious shit balls.

She peed on the floor (and a chair) six times.  Six times!

I thought that if I just put panties on her instead of a pull up, that she would get the hint.  The first time she peed in her panties, she hated it.  She didn't like the way it felt at all.  And she didn't like it the next five times either and yet she kept doing it.

She would sit on the potty for 20 minutes and then literally get up and go pee somewhere.

Yes, we have a reward system.  We have stickers and chocolate and lollipops.  But she isn't really responding yet.  She just wasn't getting it.

It was quite frustrating.

But I felt that we were both getting frustrated so she had pull ups on all day Tuesday.  I was happy to not have to clean her pee up off of the floor but also totally discouraged by the fact that we had just given up.

I guess I just keep trying...keep nudging...and eventually she will get it.

On the up side, this has been testing my patience and I think I've done pretty well so far.

What are you saying So What to?

Because I'm cheap and I don't want to pay for anything, I've been using this free video for my cardio workouts.

  1. Iā€™m not familiar with the Lose It app but I have Fitness Pal and Iā€™m sure itā€™s the basically the same thing. I love love LOOOOVE logging my workouts in the fitness pal! (though I havenā€™t logged one in quite sometime, bad girl..) Itā€™s rewarding to see how activities add up- until you eat the cheeseburger then itā€™s so defeating lol The potty training thing sounds like a nightmare. Iā€™m scared of that journey for me :[ Six times would drive me up the wall, but I guess itā€™s part of the process.

  2. Ugh, I can't imagine how frustrating it must be to potty train. I am dreading the day we decide to start. Although I have heard they will just do it when they are ready. Maybe to save your sanity try again in a couple weeks? Either way, good luck! Like I said, I can't imagine the frustration, but she'll do it one day! And I am TOTALLY the same way when it comes to losing weight. I want results & I WANT THEM NOW. Too impatient to wait for it. Keep up the good work & you'll see them!

  3. Dude - sounds JUST like Taylor the first time we tried. I gave up after 6 hours of her peeing and pooping everything except the potty. We tried two months later and she "got it". A is still young. She'll get it when it's time. Lord knows she smart enough!

17 Tips - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin

17 Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin Even when you're still trying to conceive, it's smart to start taking prenatal vitamins. Your baby's neural cord, which becomes the brain and spinal cord, develops within the first month of pregnancy, so it's important you get essential nutrients, like folic acid, calcium, and iron, from the very start. Prenatal vitamins are available over the counter at most drug stores, or you can get them by prescription from your doctor. If taking them makes you feel queasy, try taking them at night or with a light snack. Chewing gum or sucking on hard candy afterward can help, too. It took me a little while to get into the habit of taking my prenatal vitamin. I wasn't used to taking anything daily since I had been off the pill for a few months. I finally got myself in the habit of taking it every morning. I just take an over the counter vitamin. It has the same nutrients as a doctor prescribed vitamin but is less hass...

HFMD

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a common viral illness that usually affects infants and children younger than 5 years old. However, it can sometimes occur in adults. Symptoms of hand, foot, and mouth disease include fever, blister-like sores in the mouth (herpangina), and a skin rash. ( http://www.cdc.gov/hand-foot-mouth/about/index.html) Are you kidding me? Blister-like sores in the mouth? Why do things like this even exist? What purpose does an illness like this that just torments little babies (and their parents) serve?  This stupid illness is currently 'running it's course' through my poor son. One week before his first birthday. Apparently it's 'going around' as the doctor so nicely explained.  Fortunately we only had one really bad day where he was not eating or drinking much and was just miserable. He was back to his usually happy self in no time even with blisters in his mouth. So this week, while my husband is away for work in Chicago and ...

29 Week Bumpdate

The heart rate today was 160 and all is well. Little Man is still kicking away all the time!  He sleeps until late morning and then he's all over the place for the rest of the day.  It's fun but it's also uncomfortable sometimes. When I weighed myself on Sunday, which is when I usually do it to update my pregnancy app, I was only up 15lbs.  As of today, though, I am up 17lbs.  I feel like I am growing at warp speed but the doctor assures me that I am measuring just fine.  I do feel like some of the shirts I wore two weeks ago shouldn't be worn anymore though!  The bump is growing! I have noticed that I have been waking up with swollen ankles every morning despite sleeping with them elevated.  I know this has a lot to do with the weight gain since I had such a problem with it last time.  Other than that, the normal heartburn and backaches come and go and I'm crazy tired but I don't really have any other issues.  I don't ever ...
