Friday's Letters

Dear Baby Girl, I just don't think I can tell you enough how amazing you are.  You went without a nap today and you were perfect.  You had a great play date, showed off for the people at my old office and were not bothered one bit by no nap the rest of the day.  I'm not sure I'm ready to give up your naps yet because I need that quiet time but it's nice to know you won't be too much of a terror without one.

Dear Little Man, I know you're a baby and all but this not sleeping at night is for the birds.  We have two really good nights and then one really bad night and it's killing me!  Mama needs some sleep if she's going to take care of you and your sister.  Let's work on this buddy.  Oh and keep up those awesome little smiles.

Dear #30daysofthanks, you are really helping me see the little things I have to be thankful for every single day.  You can see my 30 days on Instagram (vmiller0918) under #30daysofthanks.

Dear Husband, I'm sorry that we aren't going away for your birthday as you had hoped but we just can't leave our little guy yet.  I promise that we will plan a weekend away once the little man is old enough and once he is sleeping through the night (how awesome does this place look?).  I think we had a nice dinner date on your birthday though!

Dear Staples, thank you for the ridiculously awesome new laptop.  I'm really we glad we stopped in your store by chance and saw this thing.  I can't even tell you how happy I am to have a functioning laptop again.

Dear work, I visited you today to drop off my phone and it wasn't quite as awkward as I expected it to be.  I didn't leave the company on bad terms but I did leave a friendship behind and that made today's visit a little strange.  (I'll have a post on that soon)

Dear Sons of Anarchy, thanks for the song.  I love it.

Dear readers, Have a good weekend!

  1. I left a friendship behind too. It was just too hard to keep up w a little baby. It turns out our bond was just through work. I'm nit terribly upset so I think that means it wasn't that important. Plus she isn't exactly knocking down my door!

  2. Taylor has missed a nap once (she refused at daycare) and I was so expecting a meltdown, but she didn't.

But like you, I am SO not ready to take naps away. I love my 2 hours of quiet(er) time and when Alex naps then too, it's like HEAVEN!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  3. It's always weird visiting a former employer. I don't blame you for not being ready to leave baby boy yet, he's too cute and so fresh!

Linking up with Jenna's Journey  for the 3rd Annual Blog Commenting Challenge! Hi! I'm Vanessa! I live with my husband Bryan and my amazing 6 month old Ashlyn in Pennsylvania. I was born and raised here and love it very much! We have 2 pugs, Katie and Utley, one black lab, Camo and one cat, Joey. Our second cat, Kitty, is sadly recently deceased (on Father's Day). I work full time as a Marketing Analyst for a supply chain consulting firm. I don't even know what that means really! I have been here for 3 years and am thinking about a career change. SAHM is looking better and better. My husband owns his own landscaping business which has been both wonderful and horrible at the same time! My husband and I know each other for about 17 years now and we have been together for 12. We got married in September of 2010, just 2 weeks shy of our 10th anniversary! We got pregnant after only 2 months of trying and last December we were greeted by Ashlyn Marie Miller,...

17 Tips - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin

17 Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin Even when you're still trying to conceive, it's smart to start taking prenatal vitamins. Your baby's neural cord, which becomes the brain and spinal cord, develops within the first month of pregnancy, so it's important you get essential nutrients, like folic acid, calcium, and iron, from the very start. Prenatal vitamins are available over the counter at most drug stores, or you can get them by prescription from your doctor. If taking them makes you feel queasy, try taking them at night or with a light snack. Chewing gum or sucking on hard candy afterward can help, too. It took me a little while to get into the habit of taking my prenatal vitamin. I wasn't used to taking anything daily since I had been off the pill for a few months. I finally got myself in the habit of taking it every morning. I just take an over the counter vitamin. It has the same nutrients as a doctor prescribed vitamin but is less hass...

HFMD

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a common viral illness that usually affects infants and children younger than 5 years old. However, it can sometimes occur in adults. Symptoms of hand, foot, and mouth disease include fever, blister-like sores in the mouth (herpangina), and a skin rash. ( http://www.cdc.gov/hand-foot-mouth/about/index.html) Are you kidding me? Blister-like sores in the mouth? Why do things like this even exist? What purpose does an illness like this that just torments little babies (and their parents) serve?  This stupid illness is currently 'running it's course' through my poor son. One week before his first birthday. Apparently it's 'going around' as the doctor so nicely explained.  Fortunately we only had one really bad day where he was not eating or drinking much and was just miserable. He was back to his usually happy self in no time even with blisters in his mouth. So this week, while my husband is away for work in Chicago and ...
