2015 In Review - Part 1

This has been a crazy year for us.  Definitely the most emotional year we've ever had.  Here's a re-cap of our year, the good, the bad and everything in between.

January - We started off 2015 with a little New Year's party at our house.  We chose to do this because it was just easier with the kids.  We had a blast.  It was a great way to bring in the new year.

After the party, we had a long weekend in the Poconos with a friend.  We were able to relax and start our year off great.

Mid-January is my nephew's birthday.  He turned 13.  I can't believe that this kid is 13.  I remember when he was born, at just 26 weeks, weighing less than 2lbs.  And now he is a teenager.

This picture was taken at the end of January when we decided to have a date night.  We dropped the kids off at my moms and went to dinner and a movie.  Date nights aren't typically noteworthy but this was the day we found out we were pregnant with Colson.  When the waitress asked if we were celebrating anything, it took everything I had to not scream 'a new baby!'

February - was cruise month!  Our kids were the best little travelers!  We were so worried that the drive to Florida would be bad but the kids did so well.  And they did so well on the cruise.  Ashlyn still talks about the big boat we were on.  It was so fun to be able to take the kids to St. Thomas where we had our honeymoon.

The end of February was when we decided to announce our pregnancy.  We waited until 10 weeks to announce and had the cutest little announcement.

March - Baby bump photos began and we got to see our little squish for the first time.  We had no idea what would happen in the coming weeks.

Bryan had his 18 month check up this month.  27lbs and 33.5 inches of adorable right there.

April - We celebrated Easter with my family as we always do.

April 9, 2015 is when we lost our little baby boy, Colson Alan, at 16 weeks.  I was able to deliver him, hold him and say goodbye to him, something many women never get to do when they lose a baby.

May was a busy month.  We started off with a Garth Brooks concert.  My husband has always wanted to see Garth Brooks in concert so when he came out of retirement, I knew we had to go.  It was an amazing concert, the best we have ever been to and I'm so glad we got to go.  It was a fun time after a lot of sadness in the previous month.

We celebrated Mother's Day at the place where my husband and I met.  We got to watch our kids swing on the very same swings that we used when we were kids.

We bought a house!

We ended the month with a Jason Aldean concert.  I'm not a fan of his but we still had a good time.

June - my birthday month!  I celebrated my birthday with my family and then also with my person.  Our birthdays are only 10 days apart so we had to throw ourselves a party.  With the year we both had, we deserved it!

We worked on the house more, celebrated Father's Day and ended our month with a trip to Lake Champlain.

I'll save the last half of the year for another post.

Cheerios Stands

So when I logged onto my computer this morning, the first article that caught my attention was this one ( Cheerios Stands ) about a new commercial Cheerios has out.  They are getting a ton of negative feedback for this commercial and I'm just not understanding why. So basically, people are upset because this is a white mother, a black father and a biracial child.  What's the big deal? I know that it isn't a common thing to see in a TV commercial but what's the big deal?  I really don't think that biracial couples are uncommone these days so I'm not really understanding why they are getting such negative feedback for this commercial.  I give a ton of props to Cheerios/General Mills for not pulling the ad.  They could do that and that would be easy and would end the negativity but they are not going to do that.  Good for you.  There is no reason why this ad should not be aired. By the way, I think the commercial is cute and funny and I proba...

29 Week Bumpdate

The heart rate today was 160 and all is well. Little Man is still kicking away all the time!  He sleeps until late morning and then he's all over the place for the rest of the day.  It's fun but it's also uncomfortable sometimes. When I weighed myself on Sunday, which is when I usually do it to update my pregnancy app, I was only up 15lbs.  As of today, though, I am up 17lbs.  I feel like I am growing at warp speed but the doctor assures me that I am measuring just fine.  I do feel like some of the shirts I wore two weeks ago shouldn't be worn anymore though!  The bump is growing! I have noticed that I have been waking up with swollen ankles every morning despite sleeping with them elevated.  I know this has a lot to do with the weight gain since I had such a problem with it last time.  Other than that, the normal heartburn and backaches come and go and I'm crazy tired but I don't really have any other issues.  I don't ever ...

HFMD

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a common viral illness that usually affects infants and children younger than 5 years old. However, it can sometimes occur in adults. Symptoms of hand, foot, and mouth disease include fever, blister-like sores in the mouth (herpangina), and a skin rash. ( http://www.cdc.gov/hand-foot-mouth/about/index.html) Are you kidding me? Blister-like sores in the mouth? Why do things like this even exist? What purpose does an illness like this that just torments little babies (and their parents) serve?  This stupid illness is currently 'running it's course' through my poor son. One week before his first birthday. Apparently it's 'going around' as the doctor so nicely explained.  Fortunately we only had one really bad day where he was not eating or drinking much and was just miserable. He was back to his usually happy self in no time even with blisters in his mouth. So this week, while my husband is away for work in Chicago and ...
