11 Week Bumpdate

I wanted to post this yesterday and didn't get a chance!

Well first off, I thought my doctor's appointment was Monday and it turns out it was actually scheduled for Tuesday.  Oops.  Pregnancy brain.  They were nice enough to see me anyway.  I was hoping for an ultrasound but no such luck.  That's a good thing because it means we finally heard the heartbeat!

I was 9 weeks when we heard Baby Girl's heartbeat and let me tell you, waiting these extra two weeks to hear it was terrible!  I was so nervous that we weren't going to be able to hear it.  He tried using the abdominal Doppler at first but no luck.  So then he went in with the vaginal Doppler and after an uncomfortable minute or two, we had a hear beat.

174.

Nice and strong.  For some reason, I didn't write it on my blog what Baby Girl's first heart rate was but I think it was in the 160's.

Anyway, I go back in 2 weeks for my first ultrasound and I can't wait!  I was pretty sick over the past week with a terrible cold but it seems like that is getting better now.  The doctor didn't seem to be concerned by it.

So, for now, I am not doing too badly.  The nausea and morning sickness has pretty much subsided.  It was much worse this time around.  I have been really tired this past week but I think that was just from the cold I have.  It's definitely hard being pregnant and having a toddler to take care of.

I was craving sweet cereal pretty badly.  I was going through a box a week!  Captain Crunch, Frosted Flakes, Lucky Charms.  Now Baby Girl loves Lucky Charms!  But I haven't had too many cravings lately.  Maybe it's because of the cold.

I was getting worried because even though I was eating more the past two weeks, I was still losing some weight.  It looks like I may have gained a pound over the past week, though, so I'm not worried about it anymore.  Still down 3 pounds!

And boy has my belly popped!!

Sorry about the bathroom photo.  I took it quickly at work and wasn't able to get a better shot.

I took this one today but it didn't come out as good as I had hoped.  Next time I will have a better picture!ļ»æ

Now that you've seen the bump, don't forget to vote!  Boy or Girl?!

Next update in 2 weeks!

  2. Oh the wait for the first ultrasound is the worst!!!! Army hospital makes you wait til you're 22 weeks too- not even a crying pregnant lady would soften their hearts!! I am gonna vote for team blue- because I think more morning sickness means boy or twins... Lol.. But your bump seems to little for twins.

17 Tips - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin

17 Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin Even when you're still trying to conceive, it's smart to start taking prenatal vitamins. Your baby's neural cord, which becomes the brain and spinal cord, develops within the first month of pregnancy, so it's important you get essential nutrients, like folic acid, calcium, and iron, from the very start. Prenatal vitamins are available over the counter at most drug stores, or you can get them by prescription from your doctor. If taking them makes you feel queasy, try taking them at night or with a light snack. Chewing gum or sucking on hard candy afterward can help, too. It took me a little while to get into the habit of taking my prenatal vitamin. I wasn't used to taking anything daily since I had been off the pill for a few months. I finally got myself in the habit of taking it every morning. I just take an over the counter vitamin. It has the same nutrients as a doctor prescribed vitamin but is less hass...

HFMD

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a common viral illness that usually affects infants and children younger than 5 years old. However, it can sometimes occur in adults. Symptoms of hand, foot, and mouth disease include fever, blister-like sores in the mouth (herpangina), and a skin rash. ( http://www.cdc.gov/hand-foot-mouth/about/index.html) Are you kidding me? Blister-like sores in the mouth? Why do things like this even exist? What purpose does an illness like this that just torments little babies (and their parents) serve?  This stupid illness is currently 'running it's course' through my poor son. One week before his first birthday. Apparently it's 'going around' as the doctor so nicely explained.  Fortunately we only had one really bad day where he was not eating or drinking much and was just miserable. He was back to his usually happy self in no time even with blisters in his mouth. So this week, while my husband is away for work in Chicago and ...

29 Week Bumpdate

The heart rate today was 160 and all is well. Little Man is still kicking away all the time!  He sleeps until late morning and then he's all over the place for the rest of the day.  It's fun but it's also uncomfortable sometimes. When I weighed myself on Sunday, which is when I usually do it to update my pregnancy app, I was only up 15lbs.  As of today, though, I am up 17lbs.  I feel like I am growing at warp speed but the doctor assures me that I am measuring just fine.  I do feel like some of the shirts I wore two weeks ago shouldn't be worn anymore though!  The bump is growing! I have noticed that I have been waking up with swollen ankles every morning despite sleeping with them elevated.  I know this has a lot to do with the weight gain since I had such a problem with it last time.  Other than that, the normal heartburn and backaches come and go and I'm crazy tired but I don't really have any other issues.  I don't ever ...
