13 Week Bumpdate

I finally got to see my little baby today!  It seems like it took forever to get here!  I had my first ultrasound with Baby Girl at 12 weeks, 5 days so they are very comparable in size.

The heart rate today was 171 and, again, I didn't write down the heart rate for Baby Girl at this time so I can't compare!  I think hers was still in the 160 range.  The baby didn't move nearly as much as Baby Girl did at this point.  He or she just chilled with his or her hands up by his or her head, like he or she was laying in a hammock!

Everything looks good.  Doctor says the baby is measuring perfectly according to my due date.  They did the neck test for Downs and that was normal as well.

I took Baby Girl with to see the ultrasound.  She was a little freaked out at first.  I don't think she liked being in the room.  But once the lights went off and we got situated, she was fascinated by the screen.  She was bored with it after about five minutes.  Oh well!

I thought the nausea and morning sickness had subsided but I was wrong.  It's back...and it's worse than ever!  I have been getting sick for the past three days.  It's horrible!  So much different from last time.  The backaches are bad and I started to get headaches already.

I have been trying to go to bed earlier but I am always tired.  I guess I can't help that when I've got a toddler to chase after and a baby feeding off of me!

No serious cravings, but I think that's mostly because I'm so sick all of the time.  I'm happy to report that I still haven't gained a pound, but my retainer of -4 pounds is now down to -2!

I had originally said that I didn't have strong feeling of boy or girl on this one.  I was kind of hoping for another little girl but I just wasn't sure.  I think I have to change my vote.

I just got this overwhelming feeling after the ultrasound that this one is a boy.  I can't really explain it but it was just this weird feeling I got.  That and this pregnancy has been completely different from the last one.  I guess we will just have to wait and see.  I don't think the gender ultrasound with the doctor is until April.

So here he or she is!  There is only one in there, no twins like my husband's friend kept saying there would be (not that I would have minded at all!).

Now the hard part is going to be talking my husband OUT of naming him Bryan Jr if it is a boy!

Don't forget to vote!  Boy or Girl?!
Next update in 4 weeks!

  1. Oh how I miss this. I miss looking up every week how big the baby was and what was going on. I loved the kicking and the movement. It was like my own little secret that no one else could feel. It was just for me. Congrats on baby and thanks for sharing with us.

17 Tips - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin

17 Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin Even when you're still trying to conceive, it's smart to start taking prenatal vitamins. Your baby's neural cord, which becomes the brain and spinal cord, develops within the first month of pregnancy, so it's important you get essential nutrients, like folic acid, calcium, and iron, from the very start. Prenatal vitamins are available over the counter at most drug stores, or you can get them by prescription from your doctor. If taking them makes you feel queasy, try taking them at night or with a light snack. Chewing gum or sucking on hard candy afterward can help, too. It took me a little while to get into the habit of taking my prenatal vitamin. I wasn't used to taking anything daily since I had been off the pill for a few months. I finally got myself in the habit of taking it every morning. I just take an over the counter vitamin. It has the same nutrients as a doctor prescribed vitamin but is less hass...

HFMD

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a common viral illness that usually affects infants and children younger than 5 years old. However, it can sometimes occur in adults. Symptoms of hand, foot, and mouth disease include fever, blister-like sores in the mouth (herpangina), and a skin rash. ( http://www.cdc.gov/hand-foot-mouth/about/index.html) Are you kidding me? Blister-like sores in the mouth? Why do things like this even exist? What purpose does an illness like this that just torments little babies (and their parents) serve?  This stupid illness is currently 'running it's course' through my poor son. One week before his first birthday. Apparently it's 'going around' as the doctor so nicely explained.  Fortunately we only had one really bad day where he was not eating or drinking much and was just miserable. He was back to his usually happy self in no time even with blisters in his mouth. So this week, while my husband is away for work in Chicago and ...
