Be Here Now

My husband and I came across Spartacus: Blood and Sand in 2010. Although the show was a bit gruesome, we were immediately hooked. We watched Spartacus: Gods of the Arena in 2011 but sadly lost interest for Spartacus: Vengeance in 2012. We lost interest because the main character, Andy Whitfield, died September 11, 2011.

Do you ever feel like you get to know a character in a movie, series or book? Like you personally know that character or person? You kind of fall in love with the character. You say, no one else can ever play that part the way he does. You see his real life and relate to it. You feel bad when bad things happen and happy when good things happen to him.

That's kind of what happened. We kind of fell in love with Andy Whitfield. Ok, I did. But I know my husband and I were both sad to find out that Andy died of non-Hodgkin Lymphoma and we both knew the show would just not be the same without him.

My heart immediately broke for his family. For his wife, his son, 6 and daughter, 4. I thought about how young Andy was and how sad it is that his beautiful children will not grow up with their father who obviously loved them very much.

I bring this up now because I came across this article about the documentary of Andy's last year and a half on Earth.

Andy Whitfield Documentary

I cried. I want to see this documentary finished. I want to see this man's amazing life. I really hope they get this documentary finished because I think it's an amazing story and i just wanted to share it with all of you.

Have you ever felt that kind of connection with someone in a movie, series or book?

17 Tips - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin

17 Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin Even when you're still trying to conceive, it's smart to start taking prenatal vitamins. Your baby's neural cord, which becomes the brain and spinal cord, develops within the first month of pregnancy, so it's important you get essential nutrients, like folic acid, calcium, and iron, from the very start. Prenatal vitamins are available over the counter at most drug stores, or you can get them by prescription from your doctor. If taking them makes you feel queasy, try taking them at night or with a light snack. Chewing gum or sucking on hard candy afterward can help, too. It took me a little while to get into the habit of taking my prenatal vitamin. I wasn't used to taking anything daily since I had been off the pill for a few months. I finally got myself in the habit of taking it every morning. I just take an over the counter vitamin. It has the same nutrients as a doctor prescribed vitamin but is less hass...

HFMD

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a common viral illness that usually affects infants and children younger than 5 years old. However, it can sometimes occur in adults. Symptoms of hand, foot, and mouth disease include fever, blister-like sores in the mouth (herpangina), and a skin rash. ( http://www.cdc.gov/hand-foot-mouth/about/index.html) Are you kidding me? Blister-like sores in the mouth? Why do things like this even exist? What purpose does an illness like this that just torments little babies (and their parents) serve?  This stupid illness is currently 'running it's course' through my poor son. One week before his first birthday. Apparently it's 'going around' as the doctor so nicely explained.  Fortunately we only had one really bad day where he was not eating or drinking much and was just miserable. He was back to his usually happy self in no time even with blisters in his mouth. So this week, while my husband is away for work in Chicago and ...

29 Week Bumpdate

The heart rate today was 160 and all is well. Little Man is still kicking away all the time!  He sleeps until late morning and then he's all over the place for the rest of the day.  It's fun but it's also uncomfortable sometimes. When I weighed myself on Sunday, which is when I usually do it to update my pregnancy app, I was only up 15lbs.  As of today, though, I am up 17lbs.  I feel like I am growing at warp speed but the doctor assures me that I am measuring just fine.  I do feel like some of the shirts I wore two weeks ago shouldn't be worn anymore though!  The bump is growing! I have noticed that I have been waking up with swollen ankles every morning despite sleeping with them elevated.  I know this has a lot to do with the weight gain since I had such a problem with it last time.  Other than that, the normal heartburn and backaches come and go and I'm crazy tired but I don't really have any other issues.  I don't ever ...
