Just Call Me Goo Monster

Ok so anyone who knows me knows that I am not exactly the most emotional person in the world.  I can be crude and blunt and, well, a jerk.  I'm ok with it.  It's me.  I say what's on my mind and I don't have much of a filter.  I've gotten better over the years but people don't change that much.

So this whole new world of melting every time Baby Girl does something new or something really cute is just crazy to me!  I mean, the kid is just ridiculously cute and almost every freaking thing she does is cute.  She even has a 'cute cry' as my husband and I like to call it.  The I-will-do-anything-and-give-you-anything-you-want-to-ease-your-pain kind of cry.

So I am now giving myself the title of Goo Monster.  Why?  Because whenever this kid does something cute, I mean REALLY cute, my heart starts to swell, eyes start to tear up and I melt into a giant pile of goo onto the floor and I hug the crap right out of her.  I can't help it.

Case in point:

When I went to pick my little angel up from my Mom's house last night, she was laying down with my Mom.  No one makes this kid laugh the way my Mom does.  So she was having a blast playing with Nana.  Baby Girl always gives me a big smile when I walk into the room.  I melted the first few hundred times, but I'm past it now.

So, I got my usual smile when I walked in and then I expected her to go right back to paying attention to Nana instead of me.  Not this time.  When I reached down for Baby Girl to pick her up, she reached back.  She stuck those chubby little arms right up in the air and reached for me.

HEART.
TEAR.
GOO.

She has NEVER reached for me before.  She usually sticks her arms out to the side and starts kicking like she's all excited for me to pick her up but she has never actually reached for me before.  It was ridiculously amazing and I don't think I will ever forget how much my heart swelled at that very moment.

Yup, just call me the Goo Monster.
(catchy blog title don't you think?)

17 Tips - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin

17 Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin Even when you're still trying to conceive, it's smart to start taking prenatal vitamins. Your baby's neural cord, which becomes the brain and spinal cord, develops within the first month of pregnancy, so it's important you get essential nutrients, like folic acid, calcium, and iron, from the very start. Prenatal vitamins are available over the counter at most drug stores, or you can get them by prescription from your doctor. If taking them makes you feel queasy, try taking them at night or with a light snack. Chewing gum or sucking on hard candy afterward can help, too. It took me a little while to get into the habit of taking my prenatal vitamin. I wasn't used to taking anything daily since I had been off the pill for a few months. I finally got myself in the habit of taking it every morning. I just take an over the counter vitamin. It has the same nutrients as a doctor prescribed vitamin but is less hass...

HFMD

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a common viral illness that usually affects infants and children younger than 5 years old. However, it can sometimes occur in adults. Symptoms of hand, foot, and mouth disease include fever, blister-like sores in the mouth (herpangina), and a skin rash. ( http://www.cdc.gov/hand-foot-mouth/about/index.html) Are you kidding me? Blister-like sores in the mouth? Why do things like this even exist? What purpose does an illness like this that just torments little babies (and their parents) serve?  This stupid illness is currently 'running it's course' through my poor son. One week before his first birthday. Apparently it's 'going around' as the doctor so nicely explained.  Fortunately we only had one really bad day where he was not eating or drinking much and was just miserable. He was back to his usually happy self in no time even with blisters in his mouth. So this week, while my husband is away for work in Chicago and ...

29 Week Bumpdate

The heart rate today was 160 and all is well. Little Man is still kicking away all the time!  He sleeps until late morning and then he's all over the place for the rest of the day.  It's fun but it's also uncomfortable sometimes. When I weighed myself on Sunday, which is when I usually do it to update my pregnancy app, I was only up 15lbs.  As of today, though, I am up 17lbs.  I feel like I am growing at warp speed but the doctor assures me that I am measuring just fine.  I do feel like some of the shirts I wore two weeks ago shouldn't be worn anymore though!  The bump is growing! I have noticed that I have been waking up with swollen ankles every morning despite sleeping with them elevated.  I know this has a lot to do with the weight gain since I had such a problem with it last time.  Other than that, the normal heartburn and backaches come and go and I'm crazy tired but I don't really have any other issues.  I don't ever ...
