Say My Name

Running on Empty

Where does your blog name come from?

I started this blog as a way to document my pregnancy.  I wanted a title that was catchy but something that was me.  Anyone who reads my blog knows that I'm a big Twilight fan.  I'm not the t-shirt wearing, tote bag carrying, crazy, obsessed kind of fan.  I do love the books and I do own all of the movies.  I have seen all of the movies in theater (except for the first one) and I will be seeing the last moving in theater in a few weeks.

It's kind of ironic because I saw the previews for the first movie and had no interest in seeing it.  My friends kept telling me to buy the books because they were sooo good but I had no interest.  Then I got laid off from work and had nothing better to do so I bought all four books.  I read all four books in four days.  I just couldn't put them down!

So then I had to see the first movie (that was the only one out at that point).  While the movie wasn't terrible, it wasn't great either.  I mean, none of the movies are great but I've watched them all, as a loyal fan should.

To the point...I got the title of my blog from the first Twilight movie.  Edward takes Bella to his house to meet his family for the first time and when she walks in, they can all smell her.  Rosaline says "Get a whiff of that.  Here comes the human."  And that's it.

Once I had my daughter, I added 'the human has arrived' because I thought it was fitting.  When I get pregnant with my next baby, I will probably change it to "Here Comes the Human #2" or "Here Comes Another Human."  I haven't decided on that just yet.

This might be a good way to announce my pregnancy, though.  Change the title and see if anyone notices!

  3. I like the name its thought provoking. I have a dilemma on my hands I'm blogging under the banner of Charlie and Harrys Daddy. The problem part is we are expecting an Olivia or an Oliver this month. I'm not sure if just adding the name will make it too much of a long and drawn out title. Or I should do some clever play on words kind of thing (i feel a post coming on lol) sorry for the epic comment.

SAHM is looking better and better. My husband owns his own landscaping business which has been both wonderful and horrible at the same time! My husband and I know each other for about 17 years now and we have been together for 12. We got married in September of 2010, just 2 weeks shy of our 10th anniversary! We got pregnant after only 2 months of trying and last December we were greeted by Ashlyn Marie Miller,...

17 Tips - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin

17 Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin Even when you're still trying to conceive, it's smart to start taking prenatal vitamins. Your baby's neural cord, which becomes the brain and spinal cord, develops within the first month of pregnancy, so it's important you get essential nutrients, like folic acid, calcium, and iron, from the very start. Prenatal vitamins are available over the counter at most drug stores, or you can get them by prescription from your doctor. If taking them makes you feel queasy, try taking them at night or with a light snack. Chewing gum or sucking on hard candy afterward can help, too. It took me a little while to get into the habit of taking my prenatal vitamin. I wasn't used to taking anything daily since I had been off the pill for a few months. I finally got myself in the habit of taking it every morning. I just take an over the counter vitamin. It has the same nutrients as a doctor prescribed vitamin but is less hass...

HFMD

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a common viral illness that usually affects infants and children younger than 5 years old. However, it can sometimes occur in adults. Symptoms of hand, foot, and mouth disease include fever, blister-like sores in the mouth (herpangina), and a skin rash. ( http://www.cdc.gov/hand-foot-mouth/about/index.html) Are you kidding me? Blister-like sores in the mouth? Why do things like this even exist? What purpose does an illness like this that just torments little babies (and their parents) serve?  This stupid illness is currently 'running it's course' through my poor son. One week before his first birthday. Apparently it's 'going around' as the doctor so nicely explained.  Fortunately we only had one really bad day where he was not eating or drinking much and was just miserable. He was back to his usually happy self in no time even with blisters in his mouth. So this week, while my husband is away for work in Chicago and ...
