Who am I and why am I here?

Well, I'm Vanessa.  I started this blog shortly after finding out I was pregnant with my daughter.  I wanted to document everything about my pregnancy and now I document everything about my little girl's life.

My husband and I have know each other for 17 years.  We have been together for 12 of those years.  We had a lot of ups and downs over our years together but we have always made it through.  We got married two weeks shy of our ten year anniversary.

I was pregnant six months later.  We were amazed that it happened so quickly.  I really didn't think that I would get pregnant after just two months of trying.  But I was and we were thrilled.

The pregnancy wasn't fun.  I was swollen from early on and the swelling never really went down.  I gained most of my weight during the first 6 months of the pregnancy and didn't hardly gain a pound after that.  Preeclampsia caused my daughter to come into our world two weeks early and nothing has been the same since.

My life has been radically changed by this little human.  I have never been so in love with anything in my life.  This child is amazing.  She is so happy and so lovable.  She just consumes me.

She is who I am.  She is why I'm here.

I work full time as a Marketing Analyst for a supply chain consulting firm. I don't even know what that means really! I have been here for 3 years and am thinking about a career change. SAHM is looking better and better. My husband owns his own landscaping business which has been both wonderful and horrible at the same time! My husband and I know each other for about 17 years now and we have been together for 12. We got married in September of 2010, just 2 weeks shy of our 10th anniversary! We got pregnant after only 2 months of trying and last December we were greeted by Ashlyn Marie Miller,...

17 Tips - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin

17 Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin Even when you're still trying to conceive, it's smart to start taking prenatal vitamins. Your baby's neural cord, which becomes the brain and spinal cord, develops within the first month of pregnancy, so it's important you get essential nutrients, like folic acid, calcium, and iron, from the very start. Prenatal vitamins are available over the counter at most drug stores, or you can get them by prescription from your doctor. If taking them makes you feel queasy, try taking them at night or with a light snack. Chewing gum or sucking on hard candy afterward can help, too. It took me a little while to get into the habit of taking my prenatal vitamin. I wasn't used to taking anything daily since I had been off the pill for a few months. I finally got myself in the habit of taking it every morning. I just take an over the counter vitamin. It has the same nutrients as a doctor prescribed vitamin but is less hass...

HFMD

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a common viral illness that usually affects infants and children younger than 5 years old. However, it can sometimes occur in adults. Symptoms of hand, foot, and mouth disease include fever, blister-like sores in the mouth (herpangina), and a skin rash. ( http://www.cdc.gov/hand-foot-mouth/about/index.html) Are you kidding me? Blister-like sores in the mouth? Why do things like this even exist? What purpose does an illness like this that just torments little babies (and their parents) serve?  This stupid illness is currently 'running it's course' through my poor son. One week before his first birthday. Apparently it's 'going around' as the doctor so nicely explained.  Fortunately we only had one really bad day where he was not eating or drinking much and was just miserable. He was back to his usually happy self in no time even with blisters in his mouth. So this week, while my husband is away for work in Chicago and ...
