18 Month Check Up

This past Friday was Ashlyn's 18 month check.  I can't believe that this little girl is a year and a half old already.  Aside from a slight fever (which turned into a nightmare of a weekend), the doctor says she is perfect!  She couldn't get her shots because she had a fever so we go back in two weeks for those.

Doctor's Stats:
Weight: 25lbs 11oz (75th %)
Height: 32.125 inches (75th %)
Head: Off the charts again

The basics?

Diapers - still wearing a size 4 but starting to think about pull ups and size 5
Clothing - All 18 month and 24 month
Food - She has become a little more picky and is going through a Spaghetti O's phase
Sleeping - Goes to bed between 9 and 10, wakes up between 7 and 8
Daycare - still there :(
Camera roll - 2562 pictures,  261 downloads
Teeth - 12 teeth total, another one pushing through
Words - Too many words to list!

18 Months

Your vocabulary is just exploding more and more every day.  You talked a lot at 15 months and you talk twice as much now.  You literally repeat everything so you are learning a ton of new words and sentences.  Yes, I said sentences.  You speak in sentences.  We can actually hold small conversations with you sometimes.

And you sing, sing, sing.  Right now your favorite kid's song is The Itsy Bitsy Spider.  You sing it over and over again.  You also sing many other songs like your ABC's, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Row Your Boat, Patty Cake and You Are My Sunshine.  You also started singing along to songs on the radio.  Right now, your favorite song is Rhianna, Stay.

You have become a bit more picky about eating and you really don't eat any meat.  You still like your vegetables and you love fruit but we just can't get you to eat meat.  You don't eat much at meal times and you like to snack.  We still try to stick to milk or water instead of juices and you seem to be OK with that.  You are hardly eating right now because you are teething.  We finally have one of those canines coming in.  I hope it cuts through soon because you are miserable!

You don't have any favorite toys but you love to be outside.  You go out on the deck and lay down so you can color with your sidewalk chalk.  I'm planning to get you a water table this week and I think you are going to want to be outside playing all of the time with that.

You have also been watching more movies lately.  It's amazing that you will actually sit and watch an entire movie.  Your favorite is still Wall-E but you also really like Madagascar.  You watched Up this past weekend and seemed to like that too.

Your tantrums have gotten about ten times worse.  You go from being the sweetest little thing to crying uncontrollably for what seems like no reason to me.  You usually get over it in about ten minutes, though, and go back to your happy self.

We are trying to break you of your pacifier right now but it's hard with you teething.  My goal is to get that pacifier away from you by your 2nd birthday.  I know it will be tough because Little Man is coming and he might use a pacifier but I know we can do it.

You had an awful diaper rash for a few months.  I tried so many different things to clear it up and nothing worked.  I finally took you to the doctor and got some cream for it and now it's cleaning up.  I still think I may need to change your diaper brand, though.

You  are going to be a big sister in about 2 1/2 months.  Your baby brother is the luckiest little guy in the world to have a sister as sweet as you.  I can't wait to see how you interact with him.  I just hope you know how much Mommy loves you.  I hope you know that you are my #1 girl and that's never going to change.  I'm nervous about how you are going to adjust to baby brother and I can only hope that you give him the same awesome hugs and kisses you give Mommy and Daddy!

Blog Commenting Challenge!

Linking up with Jenna's Journey  for the 3rd Annual Blog Commenting Challenge! Hi! I'm Vanessa! I live with my husband Bryan and my amazing 6 month old Ashlyn in Pennsylvania. I was born and raised here and love it very much! We have 2 pugs, Katie and Utley, one black lab, Camo and one cat, Joey. Our second cat, Kitty, is sadly recently deceased (on Father's Day). I work full time as a Marketing Analyst for a supply chain consulting firm. I don't even know what that means really! I have been here for 3 years and am thinking about a career change. SAHM is looking better and better. My husband owns his own landscaping business which has been both wonderful and horrible at the same time! My husband and I know each other for about 17 years now and we have been together for 12. We got married in September of 2010, just 2 weeks shy of our 10th anniversary! We got pregnant after only 2 months of trying and last December we were greeted by Ashlyn Marie Miller,

17 Tips - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin

17 Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin Even when you're still trying to conceive, it's smart to start taking prenatal vitamins. Your baby's neural cord, which becomes the brain and spinal cord, develops within the first month of pregnancy, so it's important you get essential nutrients, like folic acid, calcium, and iron, from the very start. Prenatal vitamins are available over the counter at most drug stores, or you can get them by prescription from your doctor. If taking them makes you feel queasy, try taking them at night or with a light snack. Chewing gum or sucking on hard candy afterward can help, too. It took me a little while to get into the habit of taking my prenatal vitamin. I wasn't used to taking anything daily since I had been off the pill for a few months. I finally got myself in the habit of taking it every morning. I just take an over the counter vitamin. It has the same nutrients as a doctor prescribed vitamin but is less hass

HFMD

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a common viral illness that usually affects infants and children younger than 5 years old. However, it can sometimes occur in adults. Symptoms of hand, foot, and mouth disease include fever, blister-like sores in the mouth (herpangina), and a skin rash. ( http://www.cdc.gov/hand-foot-mouth/about/index.html) Are you kidding me? Blister-like sores in the mouth? Why do things like this even exist? What purpose does an illness like this that just torments little babies (and their parents) serve?  This stupid illness is currently 'running it's course' through my poor son. One week before his first birthday. Apparently it's 'going around' as the doctor so nicely explained.  Fortunately we only had one really bad day where he was not eating or drinking much and was just miserable. He was back to his usually happy self in no time even with blisters in his mouth. So this week, while my husband is away for work in Chicago and
