Pre-Pregnancy Food Cravings

I was thinking about this today....everyone says you get strange food cravings when you are pregnant, right? Well what if I had weird food cravings before I was pregnant? My husband tells me that some of my food choices are a bit strange so I thought I would share them. This comes to mind as I have just finished weird food craving #1.

1. Spaghetti O's and Buttered Bread: Yes, I love Spaghetti O's! I have always loved Spaghetti O's but the little monster craves thinks like spaghetti so it makes sense that I have been eating a ton of O's lately! But I have to eat my saucy O's with buttered bread. Literally, scoop a spoonful of O's onto some buttered bread and enjoy! My husband thinks I'm gross!

2. Grilled Cheese and Applesauce: This is one of my all time favorite foods. It's like a comfort food to me, probably because I got it from my Mom. A grilled cheese sandwich with 1 1/2 slices of white American cheese, dipped in cold applesauce. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it! And again, my husband thinks it's gross.

3. Goods Potato Chips and Applesauce: Another one I get from my Mom. There's just something so good about that salty and sweet taste!

4. Vanilla Ice Cream and Salted Pretzels: Again, the salty pretzels and the sweet ice cream just make it so worth it. My husband thought I was crazy until they came out with a brand of ice cream!

5. Vanilla Ice Cream and McDonald's French Fries: Same is the pretzels...just amazing!

Now I don't think these are too bad but people look at me like I am crazy when I talk about these kinds of food cravings! What do you think? Do you eat any of these strange foods? It can't be as bad as my Dad who, on every New Year's Day, enjoys mashed potatoes topped with mayonnaise topped with sauerkraut. YUCK!

17 Tips - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin

17 Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin Even when you're still trying to conceive, it's smart to start taking prenatal vitamins. Your baby's neural cord, which becomes the brain and spinal cord, develops within the first month of pregnancy, so it's important you get essential nutrients, like folic acid, calcium, and iron, from the very start. Prenatal vitamins are available over the counter at most drug stores, or you can get them by prescription from your doctor. If taking them makes you feel queasy, try taking them at night or with a light snack. Chewing gum or sucking on hard candy afterward can help, too. It took me a little while to get into the habit of taking my prenatal vitamin. I wasn't used to taking anything daily since I had been off the pill for a few months. I finally got myself in the habit of taking it every morning. I just take an over the counter vitamin. It has the same nutrients as a doctor prescribed vitamin but is less hass...

HFMD

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a common viral illness that usually affects infants and children younger than 5 years old. However, it can sometimes occur in adults. Symptoms of hand, foot, and mouth disease include fever, blister-like sores in the mouth (herpangina), and a skin rash. ( http://www.cdc.gov/hand-foot-mouth/about/index.html) Are you kidding me? Blister-like sores in the mouth? Why do things like this even exist? What purpose does an illness like this that just torments little babies (and their parents) serve?  This stupid illness is currently 'running it's course' through my poor son. One week before his first birthday. Apparently it's 'going around' as the doctor so nicely explained.  Fortunately we only had one really bad day where he was not eating or drinking much and was just miserable. He was back to his usually happy self in no time even with blisters in his mouth. So this week, while my husband is away for work in Chicago and ...
