Amazing Baby Survival Stories

So I was reading a random blog when I came across this amazing story (Rescuing Hug) about these twins. I was so touched by the story that I decided to do a Google search for other amazing baby survival stories. Here's what I found:

Rescuing Hug - This article is about a set of twins who were born prematurely and only weighed around 2 pounds. One twin was thriving while the other was doing poorly. When the NICU nurse decided to put the two together in an incubator, the healthier baby threw her arm around her sister, who then completely stabilized.

Twin Survives After Being Declared Deceased - This story is about a mom who had a set of twins at 27 weeks. The doctors told her that one twin was fine but that the other had not made it. She took her son and held him close to her, skin touching, speaking to him. After about two hours, the baby had come back to life.

Fetus Survives Abortion - This story is about a woman who decided to abort her baby at 8 weeks because she thought he may have inherited a life threatening kidney disease. She had one son who died of the disease and one son who is missing a kidney because of it. At 19 weeks, she felt movement in her belly and the doctors told her that the baby had survived the abortion.

Baby Survives Outside Uterus - This story is about a woman who carried her baby outside of her uterus. She found out at 18 weeks that she had a Cornual pregnancy, a type of ectopic pregnancy. The woman had been trying for 5 years to conceive and didn't want to give up on her baby even though she was told to abort. He was born at 32 weeks and weight 2 pounds 14 ounces.

"Non-Viable" Baby Girl Born - This story is about a woman who gave birth to a baby weighing less than 10 ounces. She was born at 21 weeks and was just 9 1/2 inches long. The odds were not in her favor but at four months old, the little baby girl was able to go home with her family.

And then there's the story of my nephew, Cameron. Cameron was born about 3 months premature and weighed only 2 pounds, 12 ounces at birth. His umbilical cord was not working properly and was not feeding him the nutrients he needed to survive in the womb. He was in the hospital for a few months after his birth and was sent home with a monitoring system. He stopped breathing once. He is now a healthy 9 year old boy.

It's amazing how these stories take shape and these precious babies survived. Do you have any amazing baby stories?

17 Tips - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin

17 Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin Even when you're still trying to conceive, it's smart to start taking prenatal vitamins. Your baby's neural cord, which becomes the brain and spinal cord, develops within the first month of pregnancy, so it's important you get essential nutrients, like folic acid, calcium, and iron, from the very start. Prenatal vitamins are available over the counter at most drug stores, or you can get them by prescription from your doctor. If taking them makes you feel queasy, try taking them at night or with a light snack. Chewing gum or sucking on hard candy afterward can help, too. It took me a little while to get into the habit of taking my prenatal vitamin. I wasn't used to taking anything daily since I had been off the pill for a few months. I finally got myself in the habit of taking it every morning. I just take an over the counter vitamin. It has the same nutrients as a doctor prescribed vitamin but is less hass...

HFMD

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a common viral illness that usually affects infants and children younger than 5 years old. However, it can sometimes occur in adults. Symptoms of hand, foot, and mouth disease include fever, blister-like sores in the mouth (herpangina), and a skin rash. ( http://www.cdc.gov/hand-foot-mouth/about/index.html) Are you kidding me? Blister-like sores in the mouth? Why do things like this even exist? What purpose does an illness like this that just torments little babies (and their parents) serve?  This stupid illness is currently 'running it's course' through my poor son. One week before his first birthday. Apparently it's 'going around' as the doctor so nicely explained.  Fortunately we only had one really bad day where he was not eating or drinking much and was just miserable. He was back to his usually happy self in no time even with blisters in his mouth. So this week, while my husband is away for work in Chicago and ...
