Let's Talk Tattoos

Linking up with Melanie for

Photobucket

I literally found Melanie's blog today via Crazy/Simple Mama who I also found today via First Name Smith.  Gotta love all of these connections!

Onto the link up.  Tattoos.  It's no secret that I am a lover of tattoos.

This is my tattoo.  Excuse the leg stubble.  I got this when I was (I think) 23.  My name (Vanessa) means butterfly, hence the tattoo.  I love it.  I have no regrets about getting this baby at all.  I love the colors and the design.  The only thing I would change is the outline.  I wish it wasn't so dark or so thick.  I may eventually go back and get that lightened to a grayish color.

While I do love tattoos, this is my only one.  My husband hates them.  We butt heads a lot on this topic because I want a few more and he doesn't want me to get them.  I did promise him when I got that one that I wouldn't get anymore but things change.

I would really like to get something for my Grandmother.  She has had a quadruple bypass, diabetes, hernias and breast cancer.  I saw this tattoo on Pinterest and fell in love.  I like the wrist tattoos a lot.

But then I thought that maybe I could so something more simple like this and get a pink ribbon on one wrist for breast cancer and a red ribbon on the other wrist for heart disease.

I'd also love to get something for my children.  We only have one baby girl right now but I hope to have at least one or two more so I would like to get something in honor of them.  My ultimate dream would be to have a large back piece done.  Some kind of branch or tree or something.

I think tattoos are beautiful and I just love looking at them.  Yes, they can sometimes be tacky but I still love to look at them.  Would I ever get a full sleeve?  No, I wouldn't but that doesn't mean there is anything wrong with the person who does have one.

One of these days I'll just go ahead and get those ribbon tattoos or that tatto for my kids despite what my husband thinks.  Maybe.  Some day.

  2. First off--I love the name of your blog! So cute!

I think getting tattoos for your children is a great move. I'm not that into tats, but every once in a while I think about getting one down the road and if I did, I'd probably do something for my future kids. Something nice and mushy. :)

    1. Thank you! I stole it from a movie. I think tattoos should have some kind of meaning no matter how many someone has. What better meaning than your children?!

17 Tips - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin

17 Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy - #1 Take a Prenatal Vitamin Even when you're still trying to conceive, it's smart to start taking prenatal vitamins. Your baby's neural cord, which becomes the brain and spinal cord, develops within the first month of pregnancy, so it's important you get essential nutrients, like folic acid, calcium, and iron, from the very start. Prenatal vitamins are available over the counter at most drug stores, or you can get them by prescription from your doctor. If taking them makes you feel queasy, try taking them at night or with a light snack. Chewing gum or sucking on hard candy afterward can help, too. It took me a little while to get into the habit of taking my prenatal vitamin. I wasn't used to taking anything daily since I had been off the pill for a few months. I finally got myself in the habit of taking it every morning. I just take an over the counter vitamin. It has the same nutrients as a doctor prescribed vitamin but is less hass...

HFMD

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a common viral illness that usually affects infants and children younger than 5 years old. However, it can sometimes occur in adults. Symptoms of hand, foot, and mouth disease include fever, blister-like sores in the mouth (herpangina), and a skin rash. ( http://www.cdc.gov/hand-foot-mouth/about/index.html) Are you kidding me? Blister-like sores in the mouth? Why do things like this even exist? What purpose does an illness like this that just torments little babies (and their parents) serve?  This stupid illness is currently 'running it's course' through my poor son. One week before his first birthday. Apparently it's 'going around' as the doctor so nicely explained.  Fortunately we only had one really bad day where he was not eating or drinking much and was just miserable. He was back to his usually happy self in no time even with blisters in his mouth. So this week, while my husband is away for work in Chicago and ...

29 Week Bumpdate

The heart rate today was 160 and all is well. Little Man is still kicking away all the time!  He sleeps until late morning and then he's all over the place for the rest of the day.  It's fun but it's also uncomfortable sometimes. When I weighed myself on Sunday, which is when I usually do it to update my pregnancy app, I was only up 15lbs.  As of today, though, I am up 17lbs.  I feel like I am growing at warp speed but the doctor assures me that I am measuring just fine.  I do feel like some of the shirts I wore two weeks ago shouldn't be worn anymore though!  The bump is growing! I have noticed that I have been waking up with swollen ankles every morning despite sleeping with them elevated.  I know this has a lot to do with the weight gain since I had such a problem with it last time.  Other than that, the normal heartburn and backaches come and go and I'm crazy tired but I don't really have any other issues.  I don't ever ...
