#8. Doctor Time

"Newborns are uncooperative little patients at doctor visits when they're sick or they've just had immunizations, but a few tools will help calm your fussy baby. Keep a bottle of infant acetaminophen drops for treating fevers with a doctor's recommendation. Make sure you have a nasal aspirator for stuffy noses since newborns can't breathe easily through their mouths. And don't worry about that startled look on your baby's face when you use it -- it doesn't hurt. To help track temperatures for the doctor, have a digital baby thermometer on hand." "Keep a bottle of infant acetaminophen drops for treating fevers" - you can pick this up at your local drug store or grocery store. Ask your doctor for dosage information. "have a nasal aspirator for stuffy noses" - you can go with the simple, old school nose sucker, which you can pick up at your local drug store or go with something more high tech. Electric Nasal Aspirator "have a

#7. Grooming Gear

"Keeping baby's nails short will prevent him from scratching himself and you. Use blunt nail clippers made especially for baby's soft little nails. Buy a bottle of baby lotion to rub on his skin after a bath to keep it moist. Be sure to purchase lotions formulated for babies, and if your little one is prone to rashes or eczema, try oil made with calendula. If your newborn has hair, purchase a fine-toothed baby comb to gently style his hair after bathing." Once again, I won't get into bath lotions because people are very picky about what kinds of lotions they are going to use, especially if the baby has sensitive skin. Nail clippers and combs, however, are a different story. They are all pretty much the same except for color and design. This set comes with the nail clippers, emery boards, a comb and a brush and a spray bottle. And it all comes in a cute little bag: Girl's Grooming Kit Boy's Grooming Kit Now I would recommend getting at least two of everythi

To Touch or Not To Touch...

...the baby bump that is! Question of the week: Is it ok for complete strangers to walk up to you and touch your baby bump? What about family members and friends? I have a serious issue with touching to begin with. The request is simple: Don't touch me! I don't like to be hugged. I don't like to be touched on the shoulder while you are talking to me. I especially don't like close talkers. I need my space! I need that space more now than ever. I absolutely DO NOT think that it is ok for ANYONE to touch the baby bump, especially without asking! The only person who gets a free pass to touch the bump at any time is my husband, and maybe my Mom. As far as strangers go, you don't just walk up to a complete stranger and touch their belly. I wouldn't even walk up to a stranger and ask to touch their belly. That's just weird and rude. Why would anyone do that? Why would you want to touch some random person's belly? And why would they let you?! As far as family

#6. Rub-A-Dub

"Disposable wipes are handy for diaper changes and for messes away from home. Keep a good-size pack near your changing area and a travel pack in the diaper bag. Avoid fragrance and use only after the first few days (use alcohol wipes on the cord area before it falls off). You'll want to have three hooded towel and washcloth sets to keep up with the frequency of bath time." 1. Huggies Natural Care 2. Pampers Sensitive 3.Kirkland's - couldn't find a website 4. Headaches!!!

I am posting this because yesterday I spent my afternoon and evening laying on the couch with ice on my head because I had the worst headache ever! I don't know what's going on with Tylenol but none of our local stores are carrying it so I couldn't get any relief. If only I had googled this yesterday, I may have been able to avoid my crappy evening. What to Expect: Headache Symptoms and Solutions While the ice helped a little, sleep was the best remedy for me yesterday.

#5. Bath Time

"You will be bathing your infant daily, so a small plastic baby bath to place in the tub or in a large sink will help make the task easier -- even fun! Be sure to hold onto Baby while in the tub. Use specially formulated baby wash and baby shampoo to clean your baby -- they are gentler on new skin than regular soaps." Of course it's a adorable.....it's pink! Pink Tub And there it is in blue! Blue Tub So now we move onto the towels. I chose a basic set which includes a towel and wash clothes but who an resist the cute little animal towels? Pink Bath Set Blue Bath Set Chick Towel Bear Towel I also found these adorable little robes. I just can't resist anything with ears! Cat Robe Dog Robe I won't get into anything like shampoos or soaps because, let's face it, everyone has their own opinion on what you should and shouldn't use. I would only suggest that you do not buy items like shampoos, soaps or lotions for that very reason, unless of course it's o

#4. Changing Times

"You should have two packages of disposable diapers or enough cloth diapers for two days on hand at all times. But since babies do tend to go through several every day, look for sales and coupons and stock up whenever possible if you're using disposables. Make sure to purchase the right size, too, to avoid leakage. Use a natural diaper cream when necessary, avoiding those made from petroleum products. A good diaper pail is also helpful, but remember to empty it frequently." Ah...baby diapers. I'm SO looking forward to them! When googling "how many brands of diapers are there", I get tons of articles. One that popped up was "Top 10 diaper brands". Now I have never even heard of some of these brands! 1. Pampers 2. Luvs 3. Huggies 4. Drypers 5. Nature Bumz Co. 6. Beaufort Rak 7. Libero 8. GoodNights 9. Pull-Ups 10. Moltex I will most likely use Pampers or Huggies because that's a brand I know. Both my Mother and my Grandmother have already been bu

#3. Snow Baby

"If you have a winter baby or live in a cold climate, you will want to have a knit sweater and a cap or two for your baby to keep her warm. Since heat is lost out of the top of her head, these little caps are essential to maintaining Baby's body temperature. Buy a baby snowsuit, too, if your winters are very cold; otherwise, wrapping a well-clothed baby in a heavier blanket will suffice." It just so happens that we are having a Winter baby. While that's perfect for us, it's not ideal for the poor little baby. We will have to have plenty of warm clothes, blankets, hats and mittens on hand. Many of the local baby stores around here don't have their winter items out yet so I had to be resourceful on this one. I found some great online baby stores to shop at! Let's start with some really cute, warm outfits like these. Don't they look soft and warm?! Yellow Suit I love the pink butterflies! Green Suit How precious is this?! Gray Overalls Baby overalls an
