Update 08/29/11

How far along: 24 weeks 5 days Size of baby: Almost the size of an eggplant. Maternity Clothes: I haven't bought anything new in a while. Gender: Baby Girl! Movement: I'm still not able to definitely say that I'm feeling movement. I should be feeling her by now but I'm not and I'm getting antsy! What I miss: My energy! I am still so very tired. Cravings: Mostly carbs like potatoes, cheese fries, pasta, cheddar gold fish and still sweets! Symptoms: I'm still very tired all of the time, no headaches, ankles swell all of the time, heartburn and backaches are the worst! I'm very grouchy today so this will probably be short. Today's appointment was just a regular check up. Heart rate was 142. On paper, the doctor is still measuring me at 23 weeks 5 days, even though my last ultrasound put me a week ahead. So I'm sticking with the week ahead! As far as symptoms go, still tired all of the time. The backaches are probably the worst sympto

What is Wrong With People?!

I just had to blog about this story because it is just so disturbing! Hot Sauce Mom Charged with Child Abuse Did she really pour hot sauce in that child's mouth and make him stand in a cold shower? I mean really? All to get on the Dr. Phil show? I can't even comprehend what would make a person that desperate. I have a 9 year old nephew who I love more than anything in this world. He can be an amazing kid. He can also be the worst child imaginable! He is not a perfect child, he has his bad days just like everyone else. But his bad days don't deserve hot sauce in the mouth. You want to know why your child is mis-behaving? Because you're pouring hot sauce in his mouth!! How can you expect to earn any respect or love from your child if that's the kind of abuse you are giving him? So the kid had a sword fight with a pencil at school. Is that really what you are punishing him for? A sword fight? I'd hate to see what she would do to him if he said a bad

Update 08/17/11

How far along: 23 weeks Size of baby: Size of a papaya and weighs at least 1 pound by now! Maternity Clothes: I bought a few things from JC Penny and I love them! So my husband liked the idea of the baby picture with the name. I would really like to have it done and reveal it at the baby shower but we will see about that. We went and got wooden letters for the name and my husband spray painted them brown. Then I painted pink polka dots on them. My husband wants to wait until I get a little bit bigger to take the picture but a

Cutest Little Things!

I have two bins started for our baby girl: one for the stuffed animals we have so far and one for the clothing and blankets we have so far. I wanted to share some of the items that we have received and bought so far. My parents took a trip to Tennessee this year, taking my grandmother and nephew with them. Of course they brought back a lot of fun things for Little Miss! My favorite thing is this stuffed turtle that my grandmother got at the aquarium. I love its big eyes! Here are a few more things they brought back: The rest of these are things that we have been collecting along the way: I love girl stuff!! It's all just so cute! We are also working on another cute little thing for our Little Miss. We went to AC Moore and got block letters to spell out her name. My husband spray painted them brown and I painted pink polka dots on them. We are going to take a picture of my husband and I holding the block letters at my belly a

Update 08/12/11

I just realized I haven't blogged an update since my last ultrasound!! How far along: 22 weeks 3 days Size of baby: Size of a papaya and weighs at least 1 pound by now! Maternity Clothes: I bought one new shirt at Target, which already has a stain on it! I bought some items from JC Penny online too so I can't wait to see how that fits! Gender: Baby Girl! Movement: I'm still not able to definitely say that I'm feeling movement. I should be feeling her by now but I'm not. What I miss: My energy! I am still so very tired. Cravings: Mostly carbs like potatoes, cheese fries, pasta, cheddar gold fish and still sweets! Symptoms: I'm still very tired all of the time but I haven't been having too much trouble with headaches. I am still very moody and my ankles swell up at the drop of a hat. The abdominal pain is gone (Yay!) and now I'm dealing with an aching back. I am counting down the weeks until I can meet my little baby girl! We are getting so

To Eat or Not To Eat

This article was actually sent to my husband via email. It's good and bad that my husband receives emails such as these. It's good because it keeps him in the loop as to what is going on with this baby girl. He gets the week to week emails to tell him what size she is, how she is growing and how I am feeling. I think they help him to realize what is happening to me during this time and I think it helps him cope with me a little better. It's bad for the same reasons! He now knows that what I eat, little Miss eats, so I should eat more salads! He knows that she can hear us and so Mommy has to watch her language. It's sweet, though, when he rubs my belly and talks to her and calls her by name. We are still trying to keep that a secret, although I did tell my Grandmother. She was persistent! She loves the name! Anyway, this article is all about what I should and shouldn't be eating. Now that I feel like a small tank, I think I need to really think about what's

8 Things You Should Never Say to Your Husband

Another off-topic article I wanted to share. 8 Things You Should Never Say to Your Husband Read the article for details but here's the list and my take on them: 1. "You’re just like your father" - Never, ever, ever!! I'm sure I have said, "you sound like your father" but never that he is just like his father because, in all honesty, he is nothing like his father. He is nothing like his mother either. I always tell him that I just don't know where he came from! 2. "When are you going to find a new job?" - My husband has never really had an issue with his job. He has had plenty of jobs that he didn't like but he has always just dealt with them. He has a tough time with his business now but it's not about finding a new job, it's about doing what makes him happy. So I will tell him that if he isn't happy with what he is doing that she should do something else. 3. "My mother warned me you’d do this!" - I don't know that

What is Wrong with This Country?!

So this has absolutely nothing to do with pregnancy but I saw this article and I just had to blog about it because I am just so disgusted by it. Article: Homeless Mans Death Outrages Father Read the article for all of the details but this poor man lost his son, who was severely beaten by police and later died. The following videos show how one bystander caught the beating on video, a before and after photo of the victim and the news coverage of what happened: Beating Caught on Video Before and After Pictures News Coverage I don't even know how to express my disgust for this situation. There is an FBI investigation under way to find out what exactly happened and I can't wait to hear about it. Of course, it will only be from the points of view of the cops who beat him to death and we will never know the full truth because the victim is dead! I just don't understand it. So the guy ran. Ok so they taser him to get him to stop. But why did they feel the need to start pounding th

Pregnancy Etiquette

Ok I love this article! Pregnancy Etiquette 101 I have had so many rude people asking me so many irritating questions throughout this pregnancy so far. I feel like a jerk because I get so irritated by these people! But I see now that I am not the only one! The article was provided by Red Pen Mama via Wordpress. 1. I, myself, cannot stop the question “How do you feel?” from popping out of my mouth. Now, I don’t ask strangers that (I don’t ask pregnant strangers anything; I am an anomaly. I am a very private, quiet, introverted person who feels uncomfortable talking with strangers about my own pregnancies and/or labors, so I just don’t go there with people I don’t know.) I’ve asked my SILs this question; and my pregnant coworkers; and pregnant friends. I ask because I genuinely care, and they can tell me as much or as little as they want. But don’t ask if you don’t want to know, and don’t ask just so you can talk about your own pregnancies. --I am asked this question ALL OF THE TIME! I k
