Traveling with Baby

So I have a co-worker/friend who is getting married in June.  I'm invited (Yay!), but she lives in Minnesota!  Bryan really wants to go and we could really use some time away.  Ashlyn will be 6 months old by then but I'm just not ok with taking her on a plane.  Cabin pressure sucks for an adult...I can only imagine what it must be like for a baby!  And when we went to Disney, there was a little boy on the plane and he cried the entire flight!  I don't want to be that parent! So the other option is to drive. It's an 18 hour drive. We were thinking of splitting the drive into two days, 9 hours each day.  I'm not crazy about this either.  I mean we agree to take our time, make frequent stops and try to keep Baby Girl as comfortable as possible. We both really want to go but we have to figure out these logistics.  I'm not ready to leave Baby Girl for the weekend.  That's just not going to happen.  So what do we do?  If we drive, how do we keep Baby Girl co

Go Flyers!

We are so excited that the Flyers won the first round of playoffs.  My Uncle and Aunt got Ashlyn these really cool Flyers onsies for Christmas and she wore all of them during the playoffs.  We thought she was a good luck charm because each time she worn one, the Flyers won!  Turns out that was all in our heads because they lost two games before beating the Penguins and moving onto the next round. If you know anything about the Philadelphia Flyers, you know there is a HUGE rivalry between the Flyers and the Penguins.  We hate the Penguins!  Check out Wikipedia's definition of The Battle of Pennsylvania .  I know some pretty sore losers who are Penguins fans so I hope you're not reading this! Anyway, here are some pictures of Baby Girl supporting her team:   The orange is my favorite :) This was her outfit for church last Sunday!  Adorable little outfit with Flyers underneath! G o F l y e r s !

Happy Easter

I hope that everyone had a happy Easter.  I know that Easter was like 2 weeks ago but we have been so busy lately that I haven't had a single second to sit down and write anything.  So here goes... We had a great Easter.  We started our day with church, where we kept Ashlyn with us instead of sending her to the nursery.  She did very well in the service.  After church, we went to my parent's house.  My Mom cooks every year for Easter so we had a big spread for just the immediate family.  Then we spent the day lounging around and playing with Ashlyn.  My Mom and Grandmother got her some new outfits and she has already worn some of them! This was her adorable outfit for church!  This was the after church outfit that she never wore.  I took these pictures about a week before Easter because I was planning to use one for our Easter card.  I love the hat!   This is what we went with for the Easter card. Again, I hope that everyone had a great East

4 Month Checkup

Ashlyn had her 4 month check up 4/18 so I figured it would be a great time for an update.  So much has happened the past few weeks so I will make a few posts to break it all up.  She is now 19 weeks old and I can't believe how big she is!  She weighed in at 15lbs (75th percentile), which is awesome considering I thought she was going to be at least 17lbs.  She hasn't even doubled her birth weight yet, which is great since we thought we were feeding her too much! The real kicker is that she is 26 inches long (95th percentile).  That means that only 5% of babies are longer than my little girl.  And people wonder why I call her my amazon baby.  Daddy says she is going to be a basketball player, which really sucks because we don't like basketball!  In any case, she is long baby! She did much better with her shots this time too.  She got three shots just like she did last time but this time her feeding schedule worked in our favor.  We fed her while she was getting her shots

Scary Mommy

One of my co-workers has given me the title of Mama Bear.  I'm guessing this is because I'm kind of a jerk.  It's also because I'm head over heels in love with my baby girl and I will do just about anything to make sure she stays safe.  My other co-worker (and best friend) decided to Google 'Mama Bear pictures' and she then sent me the following:  http://www.scarymommy.com/mama-bear/ Oh yea....that's me. But then I read the post and found that I related to it a lot!  I guess I am a Mama Bear after all!  So then I started to look around and I realized that this Scary Mommy thing was big.  Really big.  And then I came across this article:  http://onpoint.msn.com/story?ocid=hpslide Scary Mommy is everywhere!  I think I'm going to have to buy the book.  While I don't agree with all of them, I do think the Mommy Manifesto is quite entertaining.  "I shall maintain a sense of humor about all things motherhood, for without it, I recogniz

Oh The Changes We Have Made...

I am amazed every day by how much I have changed. If you know me at all (pre baby), you know that I am not the most sentimental person in the world. I'm sarcastic. I'm blunt. I swear a lot. I'm kind of a jerk. I'm willing to admit that.  I'm still a jerk now, but I think the emotions run a little higher. I find it much easier to cry now. I always hated to cry, especially in front of people, and I never used to do it often. Now, I see one of those dam commercials on TV for the Humane Society with a one-eyed dog shaking in the corner of his cage and I got tears running down my face. It actually makes me mad sometimes because I feel like such a sappy crap. I get very sad when I hear or read anything involving the loss of a child. I mean, it made me sad before but now that I have my own child, I can't imagine how I would feel if I lost her. I can't bare the thought of her being in pain. I cried my face off when she got her 2 month shots for sh

16 Weeks!!!

Wow! My last post was at 13 weeks?! I am seriously slacking! We have just been so busy that I haven't had a single second to provide an update! I have two or three drafted blog posts but can't find the time to get to them! I think it's time to provide all the little details about the past few weeks. Well, my little baby girl is now 16 weeks old. I can't believe that she is 16 weeks old. I can't believe how big she is already. I can't believe the changes that have occurred just over the past few weeks. I can't believe that on Friday she will be 17 weeks old. And then next Friday, 18 weeks. And oh my.....where has the time gone?! Baby girl is SO much more independent now. She would much rather lay than be held. On the couch, on her play mat, in her crib. Doesn't really matter where just as long as there is something around to keep her attention. She is grabbing her toys more and more and seems to actually want to chew on play with them! She
