So What Wednesday

So what if my little Chunk is six months old and he hardly eats any solids. With Ashlyn, I was strict on the solids:  start cereal at 4 months and then follow with solid baby foods.  By six months, she was eating a lot of solid baby foods and we were even moving onto the second stage baby foods.  We didn't have a solid schedule yet but we were close. This time?  Not even close!  He was so early to open his mouth for a spoon but then we moved and I just got lazy and stopped feeding him the solids.  I just didn't push it nearly as much as I did with Ashlyn. I do notice that I give him more adult solids than I did Ashlyn at this point.  He has had mashed potatoes, ice cream, yogurt, bread, cake.  Don't worry, I'm not giving him a lot at once but I am giving these things to him from time to time.  I think I need to do some research on what foods he can and can't have.  I don't give him any eggs, peanut butter, honey, etc.  But I have been giving him foo

Five on Friday

ONE How about this post?  I haven't been able to do any real blogging lately.  The only thing I've kept up with is my So What Wednesday posts.  I've just been so busy these past few weeks.  Hopefully I'll be able to start blogging and reading regularly again soon.     TWO We are almost 100% moved into our  new house.  I have been working like crazy to get everything unpacked and organized but that's been hard with the two kiddos up my butt every second of every day.  The shitty part about not selling your home is that you don't feel any urgency to really move out of it.  We are renting our old house to a friend and he doesn't move in for another week. We are hoping to get everything out of the house and have it all cleaned for him this weekend.  Then we will be all moved out.  Now we just have to organize everything.  I can't believe how much crap we had in that little house.  We are filling up the new house very quickly!   THREE   This

So What Wednesday

So what if I am feeling extra sad this week because of someone I don't even know who lost their baby. I have been following Lora at Raising Steppe Sisters for a long time now.  I watched as her belly grew when she got pregnant with her son, Harper.  I waited for updates on how little Harper was doing when he was born way early at 26 weeks.  I thought about how lucky I am to have a nephew who was also born at 26 weeks and who is a strong and healthy 11 year old today.  I stalked her Instagram for pictures of her sweet little guy while he was in the hospital, waiting for the news that he could go home.  I cried some happy tears when I discovered she had, in fact, taken little Harper home, finally, after four long months in the NICU.  I waited patiently for updates when, after three weeks of being at home, little Harper was rushed to the hospital with breathing issues. And then it happened. Little Harper earned his angel wings. I don't even know this woman person

Five Months

It took me forever to get this posted.  In two weeks he'll be six months old already!  Moving really put me behind but here goes.  We don't have another doctor's appointment until later this month so I don't have any stats this time around.  I did weigh the little guy the other day and the scale says he's 18 pounds.  18!!  This is why his new nickname is chunk! The basics? Diapers - Size 3 Clothing - 6-9 month in PJs, 9 month in all else!!! Food - He has eaten everything I've given him so far.  He seems to favor apples and pears. Sleeping - Still not great.  Up to 4-5 hour stretches now. Teeth - Two little chompers! Words - Nothing yet Favorite toy - Bouncer, plush parrot Chunk's fat legs got the best of him and I finally had to bump him up to size 3 diapers.  The little guy has sumo legs and they are adorable!  Speaking of sumo, why does my 5 month old wear 9 month clothing?  Seriously.  He can still wear 6-9 month in one piece outfits and pjs

So What Wednesday

So what if I have been converted to a snow hater. I usually love the snow.  I loved to see the white stuff blanketing everything.  I loved having snow days.  I loved how quiet it would get because people were keeping warm in their homes.  I loved the sound of sleds and kids building snowmen. I don't love it anymore. Snow days?  I don't get snow days.  I don't work.  I don't get to have work or school canceled.  I don't get to take the day off from my kids because of the snow.  What I do get is to have a mini van that sucks in the snow so I don't get to go anywhere and get cooped up in the house with the kids. And I also get a husband who is gone.  He plows snow in the Winter.  Go figure.  He has been gone almost non-stop for the past two weeks because of this stupid snow and he will be gone again tonight because of the snow.  So not only do I get stuck inside with the kids while my husband is gone, I also have to spend my time in a new house that

So What Wednesday

So what if our new house isn't quite what I expected. It's a little dated and the layout is pretty confusing. The house is literally three times the size of our old house. Not only do the kids both have their own rooms (chunk was bunking in our room), we have a huge playroom that is pretty independent of the rest of the house. No more toy explosion all over our house.  And we can actually invite people to our house now because we can fit more than two people in the house without feeling like we are stuffed in the trunk of a car. Dated schmated. We don't have enough furniture to fill the house because it's so big! It's a good problem to have! So what if I won't have internet at the new house until Friday. It's giving me a chance to unplug a bit. I can still get what I need from my phone but I'm sure I'm going way over my data for the month so I will cringe when that bill comes!
