Baby Bottles

Anyone have any advice in what kind of baby bottles to use? I currently have Nuk bottles and while I do believe they accurately mimic the breast, it takes my little guy FOREVER to drink a bottle! The other bottles I have are much faster but I believe they are part of the reason I'm having such a problem with breast feeding. More on that later.

Any recommendations for good breast bottles?

Also, I have a Lansinoh breast pump and that kind of sucks too. It was one of the pumps that the hospital recommended but I really don't get anything when I pump. I might get an ounce out of an entire day of pumping. Maybe it's not the pump. Maybe I just can't pump. That happens right?

So what kinds of pumps are best? I'm going to be checking with my insurance company to see if they will provide a free pump. I've seen others do this so we'll see if my insurance does it.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

  2. I've hear tommie tippie are good when breast feeding. WE had them for Mackenzie but she didn't like them. They were too fast for her. We then switched to advent and she did great....still took her an hour to eat (but she was the slowest eater EVER) I just saw today at target they have a new advet bottle to be more like breast feeding.

  3. Ok, I will start off by saying that I really liked the Avent Natural Feeding Bottles. As for the pump situation it is so hard to tell if it is you or the pump. Now with my first, we both sucked at breast feeding. No matter what I did it hurt soo much. I tried to pump and had a cheaper pump (I think it was an Avent, but not sure) I was like you only an ounce all day.I rented the hospital grade one for 2 weeks (which was a Medela) but still no luck. I ended up giving up after a month because the doc said I had to supplement because he wasn't gaining weight and I just figured if I was already giving him formula so I just quit.
With my second I got a better pump and tried again. I got the Medela Swing Pump. I had heard that Medela was a really good brand. Breast feeding went better. It was just easier from the start and I wasn't as scared or anxious with her. I knew that if it didn't work out, I had no problem switching to formula. The Medela definitely worked better. I started with about an ounce every pump session, and got up to 4-5oz most sessions. Unfortunately we went on a trip when she was 2 1/2 months old and because I didn't stop and pump or make her eat, it dried up my supply and I probably could have gotten it back if I tried, but with a 2 year old around also, it was way too hard. So I breast fed for 3 months. The formula from then until a year.
So I hope that helps, I don't really know what to tell you about the pump situation. It's hard because it is a lot of money for something you can't return if it doesn't work. I do think being more relaxed and less uptight helped with the second one. it helped take the pressure off, and in turn I think it helped with my milk. And baby girl was a good feeder from the start.

  4. I have a Medela pump and I love it. I'll retire it soon and save it for the next baby because it has been amazing and never had any problems. I use the Medela bottles because it fit the pump and Dylan's never had a problem going from breast to bottle so I think that's a good thing. Good luck! At least you're sticking to it!

    1. Thanks! I have recently acquired a Medela pump so I'm hoping that works. Just bought the Tommie bottles and they seem to be a bit fast for my guy.

Blog Commenting Challenge!

Linking up with Jenna's Journey  for the 3rd Annual Blog Commenting Challenge! Hi! I'm Vanessa! I live with my husband Bryan and my amazing 6 month old Ashlyn in Pennsylvania. I was born and raised here and love it very much! We have 2 pugs, Katie and Utley, one black lab, Camo and one cat, Joey. Our second cat, Kitty, is sadly recently deceased (on Father's Day). I work full time as a Marketing Analyst for a supply chain consulting firm. I don't even know what that means really! I have been here for 3 years and am thinking about a career change. SAHM is looking better and better. My husband owns his own landscaping business which has been both wonderful and horrible at the same time! My husband and I know each other for about 17 years now and we have been together for 12. We got married in September of 2010, just 2 weeks shy of our 10th anniversary! We got pregnant after only 2 months of trying and last December we were greeted by Ashlyn Marie Miller,

I'm Not Gonna Lie

Anyone who knows me know that I LOVE Christmas.  I love the decorations.  I love to decorate my own house and see all of the other cool decorations other people have.  There is a house down the street from us that always has more lights and decorations than I have ever seen in one yard.  It's a bit much but it's an attention grabber. I love the Christmas tree.  I love to get the tree out each year (yes we have a fake because I can't stand the needles) and I love to decorate it.  Growing up, our family would decorate the tree together with all kinds of ornaments that we had collected over the years.  I like to do themes for my trees.  Last year I did pink and silver in honor of the newest member of our family.  I'm really hoping to instill the tradition of decorating the tree with my kids. I love finding the perfect gifts for people and I love to watch their reactions when they open those gifts.  I generally wait until I have purchased ALL of my gifts, I sort them

Big News!

We have been trying very hard to keep this to ourselves for just a little while longer but I can't wait anymore!    Baby Miller #2...due 09/01/13!!!!!!!!! I am 8 weeks and 1 day I have known since Christmas Eve I am much more tired and much more nauseous this time around I haven't gained a single pound yet, unlike last time I am not so secretly hoping it's another girl If this one is anything like Baby Girl, he or she will be born mid-August I've been leaving hints all over the place but no one noticed! I am so excited!   I've already had one doctor's appointment but I was only 7 weeks so there wasn't much to do.  We couldn't hear the heartbeat or anything so the next appointment will be much more exciting!  My next appointment isn't until February 11th so that's when I'll get to hear and possibly see my next little monster!  So exciting!   PS:  Notice the blog title?!
