So What Wednesday

Life After I Dew

So what if I'm on day 3 of my 10 day cleanse and I've already cheated.

So here's the deal.  Last week was a binge week for me.  It just happened.  I ate whatever I wanted and didn't really care.  I was over at least 1600 calories for the week and that wasn't even me logging everything.  I also gained 3lbs.  Suck ass.

I'm not kicking myself.  I know we all fall.  I also know it's time for me to get back up.

So this week I started my diet back up and I also started a 10 day cleanse.  You have to drink this fiber drink and take some pills and follow a few diet restrictions.  No big deal right?

Wrong.

The fiber drink tastes like elephant ass.  It's disgusting.  And on both days one and two I literally vomited while trying to drink it.  I tried diluting it the way they suggested and that didn't work.  I tried diluting a different way as someone else had suggested and that didn't work.  I tried diluting it more than it's supposed to be and that didn't work.

I have tried every single day to drink this stuff but I just can't get it down. I think I get 1/4 to 1/2 of it down but that's about my limit.  So that's the first cheat.

The dietary guidelines are as follows:

-Eat eight to ten servings each day of vegetables and fruits.
-Drink at least 8 glasses of water each day.
-Eat starchy foods such as breads, rice and pasta in whole grain form.  Avoid processed starches such as white bread and white rice.
-Reduce your dietary fat intake to as low an amount as possible.  No butter, margarine or high fat salad dressings.  Cook with water or vegetable broth instead of oil or butter.
-Scrupulously avoid all fried foods.
-Be sure to avoid sugar.

Now, here's where I fail.  I don't like hardly any fruits or vegetables.  For real.  I never have.  I like apples, corn, dried corn (I don't think that counts) and potatoes (and you're supposed to avoid them).

I can pretty much handle the rest of the restrictions.  I don't eat fried foods, I don't eat much sugar (although I have been on a sugar kick lately), I drink water all day long, I don't eat much bread or pasta anymore and I don't cook with butter or oil.

So really it's just the veggies and the fiber drink that I am not doing during this cleanse.

There really is no positive spin on this.  Dieting always puts my palate into perspective and let's me know that I really don't have one.  I'm a plain and simple meat and potatoes girl.  I like PA Dutch cooking and that's all there is to it.

Hopefully the rest of what I'm doing for the cleanse will help and I'll lose some lbs.  I'll let you all know how it worked after my ten days is up.

Have you ever drank anything gross in an effort to lose some weight?  What kind of diet restrictions do you place on yourself?  Is your palate as plain and boring as mine or are you a lover of more interesting foods?

PS.  I burned over 1000 calories cleaning our house yesterday.  I think I'm going to like this new house of ours!

PSS.  I'm also going to start the 300/30 Day Ab Challenge that Shannon at Life After I Dew is doing.  Time for this belly to go!

  1. My mom is a health nut and can tell you every alternative to every ingredient you didn’t even know was bad for you. I hate when she says “here try this” and it’s some baked cookie that she later reveals was made with “applesauce” instead of sugar. I’m like, MOOOOM! So I cant tell you how many nasty things she has made me drink in my life, lol. Dieting is tough, and when I went on a diet post-pregnancy I had an egg and English muffin for breakfast, the same stupid sandwich everyday, and vegis w/chicken for dinner. No chocolate, cookies, chips, ice cream, if it was delicious- I wasn’t eating it. It sucked but I get really focused when I want to do something, I’ve learned to have discipline. And when I lose my focus, I’m a total binge eater- easily eating 2 king size snickers in ten minutes. I feel ya, we all fall off. You can do it! But maybe the drink isn’t for you.

Blog Commenting Challenge!

Linking up with Jenna's Journey  for the 3rd Annual Blog Commenting Challenge! Hi! I'm Vanessa! I live with my husband Bryan and my amazing 6 month old Ashlyn in Pennsylvania. I was born and raised here and love it very much! We have 2 pugs, Katie and Utley, one black lab, Camo and one cat, Joey. Our second cat, Kitty, is sadly recently deceased (on Father's Day). I work full time as a Marketing Analyst for a supply chain consulting firm. I don't even know what that means really! I have been here for 3 years and am thinking about a career change. SAHM is looking better and better. My husband owns his own landscaping business which has been both wonderful and horrible at the same time! My husband and I know each other for about 17 years now and we have been together for 12. We got married in September of 2010, just 2 weeks shy of our 10th anniversary! We got pregnant after only 2 months of trying and last December we were greeted by Ashlyn Marie Miller,

I'm Not Gonna Lie

Anyone who knows me know that I LOVE Christmas.  I love the decorations.  I love to decorate my own house and see all of the other cool decorations other people have.  There is a house down the street from us that always has more lights and decorations than I have ever seen in one yard.  It's a bit much but it's an attention grabber. I love the Christmas tree.  I love to get the tree out each year (yes we have a fake because I can't stand the needles) and I love to decorate it.  Growing up, our family would decorate the tree together with all kinds of ornaments that we had collected over the years.  I like to do themes for my trees.  Last year I did pink and silver in honor of the newest member of our family.  I'm really hoping to instill the tradition of decorating the tree with my kids. I love finding the perfect gifts for people and I love to watch their reactions when they open those gifts.  I generally wait until I have purchased ALL of my gifts, I sort them

Big News!

We have been trying very hard to keep this to ourselves for just a little while longer but I can't wait anymore!    Baby Miller #2...due 09/01/13!!!!!!!!! I am 8 weeks and 1 day I have known since Christmas Eve I am much more tired and much more nauseous this time around I haven't gained a single pound yet, unlike last time I am not so secretly hoping it's another girl If this one is anything like Baby Girl, he or she will be born mid-August I've been leaving hints all over the place but no one noticed! I am so excited!   I've already had one doctor's appointment but I was only 7 weeks so there wasn't much to do.  We couldn't hear the heartbeat or anything so the next appointment will be much more exciting!  My next appointment isn't until February 11th so that's when I'll get to hear and possibly see my next little monster!  So exciting!   PS:  Notice the blog title?!
